Workers at LG Chem, a $300 million lithium-ion battery plant heavily funded by taxpayers, tell Target 8 that they have so little work to do that they spend hours playing cards and board games, reading magazines or watching movies.

They say it's been going on for months.

"There would be up to 40 of us that would just sitin there during the day," said former LG Chem employee Nicole Merryman, who said she quit in May.

"We were given assignments to go outside and clean; if we weren't cleaning outside, we were cleaning inside. If there was nothing for us to do, we would study in the cafeteria, or we would sit and play cards, sit and read magazines," said Merryman. "It's really sad that all these people are sitting there and doing nothing, and it's basically on taxpayer money."

Two current employees told Target 8 that the game-playing continues because, as much as they want to work, they still have nothing to do.

"There's a whole bunch of people, a whole bunch," filling their time with card games and board games," one of those current employees said.

That employee says some workers are doing odd jobs around the building, including cleaning and maintenance, while others hang out in the cafeteria playing video games, Texas hold-'em and Monopoly or doing Sudoku or crossword puzzles -- all on company time. The employee said some watch movies.

"There's no work, no work at all. Zero work," another current employee said. "It is what it is. What do you do when there's no work?"

They told Target 8 they didn't want to talk on camera or be identified because workers signed a confidentiality agreement.

Randy Boileau, a Holland-based public relations specialist who was spokesman for LG Chem , says he no longer represents

Soviet style. We now pay workers to "not" work.

I think the phrase from the Soviet era was,”They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work.”

I had a job like this once but it wasn't the taxpayer who was paying me to toss horseshoes or watch TV.

The whole “green energy” sector is a fraud and a scandal.

It now describes the entire enterprise. Every job at Govt Motors is "Job Bank." If they were doing productive work, the government would not need to own the place.

We’re not finished paying. Texas is thinkingof raising their yearly vehicle registration fees $15 to $50 in part because less gasoline taxes are being brought in electronic cars. IOW, the rest of us get penalized and have to pay for the greenies.

They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work.

Thanks for reminding us exactly what the Left in the U. S. wants to turn our work force into.

Good one...

It has been a long time since I heard that phrase. It's been twenty years since the U.S.S.R. closed up shop.

If someone uses the roads they should pay and if electric cars bypass the gas tax (which in an honest government pays for the roads) then they should pay the equivalent dollars based upon usage. If Texas has yearly inspections like NY then the mileage/tax could be calculated at that time.

There is no reason people who drive cars using gas should be paying higher registration fees to cover greenie-weenies as the gas users are already paying their “FAIR SHARE”.

If we could elect a truely conservative benevolent dictator for one year.....(unconstitutionally).....

There would be a year of Economic and cultural shock and awe, maybe two. But it would spur 50 years of massive American economic boom.

A boy can only dream.

Hey, maybe Obama's smarter than we thought:

"This is a symbol of where Michigan is going, this is a symbol of where Holland is going, and this is a symbol of where America's going," Pres. Barack Obama told a crowd at the groundbreaking.

That’s all a big sham anyway.

There are three to four times the cars on the road today than were on the road in 1970. Gas prices are up. Gas taxes are up.

Then a very small percentage of the cars go electric, and they feign fiscal calamity. They try to do the same thing with cars that get good mileage.

Funny you never heard them say, “You know, there are so many cars on the roads these days, we’re getting too much gas tax revenue. Here, we’ll lower the taxes for you.”

They steal tax revenues out of the highway funds to pay for mass transit or whatever else they want to spend money on. Then they come back to us and demand toll roads or other fee hikes.

Government! Is there an honest person at any level?

“”It is what it is. What do you do when there’s no work?””

If you’re the kind of person who takes pride in a job well done you look for another job that will keep you busy. If you’re a bum then you stay where you are.
