A 31-year-old man working for the Virginia Republican party was arrested on Thursday after he was caught throwing out voter registration forms, Richmond, Va., the Rockingham County sheriff's office confirmed to CBS News.

The man, Colin Small, faces 13 felony and misdemeanor counts relating to voter fraud, including one count of obstruction of justice, four counts of destruction of voter registration applications and eight counts of disclosure of voter registration applications.

According to CBS affiliate WTVR local man reportedly spotted Small throwing a bag into a Harrisonburg, Va., dumpster reserved for private use by the company at which he works, and investigated because he was annoyed that the man had improperly used the dumpster. This is just one that got caught.

“Tip of the iceberg” sort of stuff.

I guarantee there’s more and it’s more prolific than in 2008.

I've been writing all along that we have been systematically infiltrated.

Unless you show up at the voting booth, you never know what happened to your vote.

Bet this guy was doing it every day. And I'd guess he's got a look out working with him.

Sounds like he went in to sabotage Republicans. Wonder how many other registrations he destroyed before being caught?

From a Craigslist employment ad...

When you look back on 2012, would you rather remember standing on the sidelines and watching Romney pull ahead in the last few weeks, or do you want to remember activating thousands of voters in support of President Barack Obama?

We have three weeks left to ensure not only a Democratic victory, but a victory for progress, for civil liberties, for the middle class, and for human rights. Apply today to run a field office and keep President Obama in office.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for delivering key votes in battleground districts and states:

Direct: Run a voter contact campaign to help re-elect President Obama and other progressive candidates.

Recruitment: Build a team of 20-80 canvassers by recruiting from within the local community. Interview prospective staff and make hiring decisions.

Staff Management: Train volunteers or paid staff in effective get-out-the-vote skills, including door-to-door voter persuasion and mobilization. Work with your staff in individual and group settings, with a particular eye towards developing leaders. Cultivate a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.

Logistics: Cut turf and manage transportation to ensure maximum time talking to voters.

Canvassing: Canvass in the field six to seven days per week, to ensure high quality contact with voters and train new and experienced staff.

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary for Assistant Campaign Directors begins at $24,000. Staff may opt into our health care plan (PPO). Paid training, vacation and sick days are included; student loan assistance is available.

Long-term positions available for top candidates.

Positions have a minimum commitment through the election. Campaign hours can run 80-100 hours per week, including work on weekends. Staff will need to be ready to go to a battleground state.

I smell a RAT too.. As in, A RAT that infiltrated working for the Republicans to sabotage their activities and besmirch their name.

Regardless the party, it's good that these incidents/arrests get publicity so as to intimidate would-be fraudsters.

((Colin Small, a 23-year-old resident of Phoenixville, Pa., worked for Pinpoint, a company hired to register voters on behalf of the Republican Party of Virginia.

Correction: The Rockingham County Sheriff office originally said Small was 31 years old. The agency later corrected that information to say he is 23. This post has been updated.))

To those claiming it’s a RAT...

There are bad apples in every batch. This is why we need to take extreme actions whenever we find this in our own ranks. We all know it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the other side. But when dealing with the other side, all it takes is one or two stories like this to discount ANY AND ALL wrong doing on their side.

I’ve seen several queries about self-identified Republican agents calling at the door with voter registration forms. The question was, how do you know if these guys are who they say they are?

What if the Dem crooks have a bunch of guys all over the country, going door to door soliciting and collecting early ballots from Republican voters, AND THEN THROWING THEM OUT?

That way, they not only would have double voters, seniors suffering from dementia, and dead people voting for Democrats, but they could cut down on Republican voters as well, since these people would think they had already voted and would not go to the polls on election day.

Also, that’s one way of avoiding the occasional inconvenient statistic when more Democrats vote in some cities than the total number of registered voters.

I think this whole business needs to be looked into very closely.
