Don't worry, WFB and National Review: I'm not losing my nerve. Romney is still going to lose
Telegraph - UK ^ | October 19, 2012 | Dan Hodges

Posted on 10/19/2012 12:20:42 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

These are words I never thought I’d have to write: William F Buckley Jnr,I’m sorry.

Actually,my apology isn’t really directed towards that titan of modern conservatism;he’s galloping proudly across the eternal range with the Gipper. It’s more a mea culpa to my good friends at National Review, who have kept Buckley’s flame flourishing during the long days and dark nights of the Obama administration.

Yesterday,I let them down. In this piece admiring the strange beauty of the US electoral college,I wavered. Or at least,I gave columnist John O’Sullivan the impression that I had finally allowed the cold needle of doubt to pierce my soul. “[Hodges] seems to concede implicitly that Romney might have a chance, albeit a slim one,of passing the post first”,he wrote, with the same panache he used to pen speeches for Margaret Thatcher. “I was saddened to read this. I pray he’s not losing his brio. So I make this appeal: Don’t do it,Dan. Don’t join the massed ranks of desiccated calculating machines,of green-eye-shaded statisticians with liquid nitrogen in our veins. Keep swashing your buckle. Stay Cavalier!”

John, rest easy. The laddie is not for turning.Obama has this.

Not that you’d know it from the latest wave of panic that has swept through liberal ranks. First we had the debate meltdown. Now we have the Gallup meltdown. At this rate when Obama is declared the winner a fortnight next Tuesday, half the blogosphere will still be fretting: “He’s going to trip and bang his head on the lectern before he delivers his victory speech, and Joe Biden will collapse in shock, and Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter will mount a coup and Romney will become president!”. Apparently Gallup’s private polling has the chances of this scenario occurring at a healthy 67 per cent.

So what is the basis for my arrogant,long-range,Leftie, pinko, assumption of victory?....

He is, after all, a citizen of Great Britain, the macrocosm of Aintry, GA/Deliverance.

Obama was never going to be anything more than a one term president.

I am amused by the number of people who think OH is everthing. Obama is running 7 to 10 points behind in nearly every state and with every demographic, and will still win if he takes Ohio. If Obama underperforms by just 7 on election day, he will end up at about 215 EV.

This is drivel not worth paying attention to.

Liberals will assert Obama will win, whether it is true or not, because that is the Obama campaign “narrative”.

They do NOT want the look of a loser, or the wheels will come off the failed President’s campaign.

Obama has failed America and should be fired. Anyone not agreeing with that is out to lunch.

He looks like the inbred mutant that played the bango from Deliverance.

Billy Redden wore special makeup to play that part, so he likely would take offense to the comparison with this columnist.

"Until there is a trend for Romney in OH, 0bama is the favorite."

WTF is 51-45? National PV dynamics will slaughter early voting.

One thing I have noticed in my own area. No Obama signs, There is no hype for Obama.

I can’t say that makes a Romney win, but what I can say is that there is no happiness or enthusiasm for Obama.
