Keep in mind that supporters from the eastern suburbs would have had a nearly impossible task to get to the airport in the western end of the county as the main route to do so was closed. The Squirrel Hill Tunnels, which are also the main choke point on the morning commute on the Parkway East, were shut down all weekend with the detour from Hell to follow. What would normally be a 45 minute drive to the airport on a Saturday morning would have resulted in at least a 3 hour delay (that’s what they’ve been the last few weekends when the tunnels were closed. Romney has a lot of support in the east. If the tunnels were not closed, that crowd would have been much larger.
