Blah, blah, blah. Remember 2000? The guys who had the story about Dubya’s old DUI. Did they go “na na na, we’ve got something”, or did they just wait until the weekend before the vote and drop it into the news? I think you know the answer. The entire point of the October Surprise is that it’s supposed to be a surprise. If you see it or even suspect it coming, it’s not a surprise, is it?

No as a matter of fact, they didn't wait until the "weekend before the vote," they blew it by coming out with it in Sept.
Buckhead here at FR exposed the sham, and the story turned out to help Bush instead of hurting him.
If they would have waited until a week before the election, it could have brought W down.
The media would have been all over it, accepting it as true as it came from Rather and there would not have been enough time to dispute in most likely.
