Apple's New Legal Woes With Samsung: Reveal Your Profit Margins
It had appeared pretty much cut and dried. Apple won big against Samsung in California and looks to collect huge damages. German courts were ruling that Samsung had breached the design patents as well and thus EU action was on the cards. And then two further court rulings have come up with really rather take the shine off it all for Apple. The first is that in order to get those damages from Samsung Apple is going to have to reveal all about its profit margins. The second is that the German ruling looks to have been incorrect in EU law. The correct ruling being that the Galaxy Tab does not breach Apple’s patent.
The first ruling is in California:
“ The judge who presided over a high stakes court battle between Apple and Samsung in August has ordered that key data used as evidence in the case is made public. They include details about the iPhone maker’s sales, profits and margins.
Samsung was ordered to pay Apple $1.05bn (£650m) in the patents battle, after the Korean company was found guilty of copying Apple’s designs for the iPhone and its iPad device. However, the American technology giant stands to lose a considerable amount more if the information sparks a backlash amongst customers and dents sales of its expensive products.
As a listed company, Apple regularly reveals information about its revenues and profits, but it is careful not to disclose the mark up on its products. It has argued that the details will hand its rivals an unfair advantage.
The US court is unconvinced, however. “Apple has not established that public availability of its product-specific unit sales, revenue, profit, profit margin and cost data would actually provide its competitors .....

I know people who’ve made a lot of money from Apple stock, at least on paper. I’d be cashing that in about now.
I can’t stand Apple. You know they could use something other than supersensitive glass for those ridiculous iPhone screens, but it is a profit center to replace the screens at $100 a pop. All the kids have to have these dumb phones and they are cutting their cheeks and their fingers talking and texting on the stupid things with the broken glass screens which tired parents are not rushing to replace at the first crack. Apple is a ridiculous company that deserves its comeuppance.

I am not a fan of Apple either.....avoid their products like the plague.
And also find it interesting that liberals always complain about Exxon with its “excess” money making and cash on hand. Yet, Exxon has about $20 Billion of cash on hand while Apple has $100 Billion of cash on hand and not a word about Apple’s “excess” profits.
I have a 5400RPM Samsung eco-green hard drive that runs flawlessy and have owned Samsung LCD monitors. I should favor Apple because they are America but to be they don’t make anything here are just a cabal of spoiled liberal bitc__s and homos.
Samsung is still making ships and other heavy industry. I favor them over Apple any day. I find it amusing how Korea has pulled ahead of Japan in many ways. Down here my friends are buying Hyundai Sonatas which is Toyota Camry quality but $5000 less. And may be better
