The idea that Obama resembles in any way; the CHARACTER of Mr. Smith; would have Jimmy Stewart 'rolling'. . .
Obama is the absolute, total antithesis of 'Mr. Smith'. People like Valerie Jarrett, Rahm Emmanuel, Dave Axelrod, Bill Ayers; Rev. Wright; Louis Farrakhan; Jesse Jackson, Tony Rezko; would NEVER be considered 'friends'- of Mr. Smith. And of course; Obama did not arrive in Washington to 'restore' virtue; but rather to eradicate any and all vestiges of. . .and recreate America in a craven image - his own that is; and that of his ideological mentors. (We know who they are; and there are no American 'Greats' or Presidents in the lineup.)
Perhaps, Burns should read Tolkien instead. 0r, reread with 'new' eyes. Would that he could of course. This kool-aid renders people 'blind' to moral realities.

Throughout our history right from the very start, Americans have always held a skeptical view of government. The failure of Communism (China learned from the lessons of the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution) and the impending failure of western European socialism is proof the American view is completely correct.
