Obama Media Abandoning Obama
Tea Party Tribune ^ | 2012-10-21 10:57:12 | mrcurmudgeon

By Mr. Curmudgeon:

Here in battleground Florida, Obama received something of a shock. The Orlando Sentinel newspaper, which happily endorsed him for president in 2008, announced it is backing his Republican challenger in 2012.

"Economic growth, three years into the recovery, is anemic. Family incomes are down, poverty is up. Obama's Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, highlighted these and other hard truths in this week's second debate," said the Sentinel in its lead editorial on Friday, "We have little confidence that Obama would be more successful managing the economy and the budget in the next four years."

The newspaper even engaged in a little tough love, speaking to government-dependent Floridians as though they were subjects of a substance abuse intervention. " ... The president and his supporters are attacking Romney because his long-term budget blueprint calls for money-saving reforms to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, three of the biggest drivers of deficit spending. Obama would be more credible in critiquing the proposal if he had a serious alternative for bringing entitlement spending under control. He doesn't."

Ah yes, entitlement spending. Republicans will have their hands full reforming the unreformable. How do you fix a Ponzi scheme? These government enterprises steal from new victims to pay the gullible marks of the past. But the government does more than this; it borrows from the so-called Social Security Ponzi "trust fund" and spends it on vote-buying goodies for other gullible marks. That's why Social Security is near bankruptcy when it should be in the black.

The world is in a government-caused death spiral. The world's central banks figure they can mitigate the effects of the globe's economic depression by printing more money, buying bad government debt and keeping interest rates low. Unfortunately, governments borrow that cheep money to feed their vote-buying Ponzi schemes at the expense of the free market and jobs. I don't expect Republicans to bring up that reality during an election campaign, but it would go a long way in preparing the American people for the necessary undoing of the entitlement monsters the Sentinel correctly calls the "biggest drivers of deficit spending."

The dishonest charge leveled at Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan is that, if elected, they will work to "privatize" Medicare, Medicate and Social Security; that they will "end" these programs "as we know them."

Ladies and gentlemen, these programs are nearing bankruptcy "as we know them." They will end, one way or another, whether we like it or not. The only question for consideration is what approach we take to end them with as few dislocations as possible.

Though the two major parties won't admit it, the contest in America is between freedom and authoritarianism, between the free-market and a government-directed Solyndra economy. We already know that doesn't work. It's long past time we stop feeding the bankruptcy machine in Washington at the expense of national prosperity and jobs.

Americans just need to grow up and stop expecting big government to be our mommy. That tired fantasy is killing the last best hope for man.

While there may be a modicum of truth to that, they do not deserve to be welcomed back with open arms. The turncoat media made their bed, let them lie in it. Their credibility - so far as I am concerned - is shot to hell, and I don't see how the current generation of MSM can ever, ever, earn it back after their lusty affair with the communist-in-chief. Quite a few of their talking heads and moderators have gone over to the other side of believeability, and will not be trusted again. Their beloved obama has ruined their careers...forever. credibility, credibility

Bingo.

Fox has been balanced.

Most every source of news has been in the Obama tank.

Most every one.

Support Fox. But the rest have some Time Out, at very least.

Some won’t make it.

President Romney should ignore Minitru as much as possible. Let the professional leakers (every administration has them) leak to FOX news. Minitru will get the drift, eventually.

The media, even FOX, fails most of the time to name Hillary, who was I think the first out of the shute to throw up the Benghazi affair as a protest over a video and who repeated it on more than one occassion when her own department Intel testified they had NEVER come to that conclusion. The NSA may or may not have come up with the video protest, but live film of the event scoffs at such an idea and testimony by those in the field deny it.

No one wants to lay this at Hillary’s feet in an election year, but Hillary is at minimum highly responsible if not solely culpable, given it is she who knew of the ambassador’s assessment of lax security and her department who opted to deny all requests for more. Extraordinary incompetence at best, and dereliction of duty at worst.

Point taken. Blackhawk Down comes to mind. Hillary secures nothing if not her self. She wanted to be seen as normalizing relations herself. Smart power, she said. The smartest woman in the room was a boob on the job.

FOX buries that fact as well as conservative media, trying to get Obama, who knows zip about squat when it comes to foreign policy. Not Hillary. SHE knows it all.

To me, and apparently to the Orlando Sentinel, the best “moment” in any of the debates so far was Romney laying out the Obama record to that black guy in the 2nd debate. Just a devastating indictment of Obama, very well stated and delivered. No wonder they keep talking about binders, they need something other than that two minute summary of Obama’s term to be in the headlines.

Well, when people are worried about, or don’t have, money they don’t go to Disney World.

When they don’t go to Disney World, it hurts Orlando.

Orlando’s been hurting for three years and the local fish-wrap has figured it out.

The world is in a government-caused death spiral.
The world's economy is in a LEFTIST-CAUSED death spiral. The left just used the gov't and abused the Constitution to do it.

I am the sole conservative/Republican in my large extended family. In 2008, they mercilessly ganged up on me in person, and over email. After the election, the gloating began, and didn't stop for months.

I'm going to be feeling pretty smug and vindicated in a few weeks, but I'm not going to rub their noses in it. I think the 'silent treatment' will be even more devastating to their psyches.

Not only will I have 'won', it'll just kill them that I'm taking the high road and refusing to return the nasty barbs they threw at me.

Newspaper endorsements have nothing to do directly with how the vote will turn out, especially in today's world where daily newspapers are pretty much on the road to extinction.

But, aside from the Orlando Sentinel's endorsement of Romney, there are other signs here and there that the Obamatons might be night have as iron-clad a grip on some of their their MSM propagandists as they did even a month ago, such as Romney getting some less negative coverage in some places.

Perhaps some MSM types are thinking that Obama might not be in office very much longer.
