Say you have a farmer who farms next to a GMO field. He wants to make sure his crop is clean so he hires a certification lab to test it.

They find patented material in his crop.

Is that illegal? For whom?

If they do it without a license from monsanto, then yes it is unlawful reverse engineering.

So you’re saying that you need a license from Monsanto to test an organic farmer’s open pollinated seeds for GMO contamination?

I’m quite sure that such an investigation would violate current patent law.

This stuff isn’t always logical.
