Matthews and Panel Praise Schieffer for Getting Romney 'To Be Quiet'

During his special post-debate Hardball, Chris Matthews's panelists -- with the exception of Republican Michael Steele -- praised moderator Bob Schieffer’s ability to get Romney “to be quiet.” Apparently it’s the job of the moderator to keep the Republican docile during debates in the minds of liberals.

Matthews also liked the format of Monday's debate because it denied Romney from being exhibiting "flagrant disrespect" towards President Obama.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: I want to make one point. I think the fact they were sitting at a table together made it harder for Romney to engage in that flagrant disrespect he showed the second debate.

JOY REID: Exactly

MATTHEWS: Hold on. You'll get your turn. [To Michael Steele]

HOWARD FINEMAN: He actually had the opposite – he had actually had the opposite – Romney – actually had the opposite strategy this time, which was, for the most part, to agree with the president on virtually everything. He did that as a way to minimize --

MATTHEWS: It's called clinching.

FINEMAN: It’s clinching. It's like in boxing. It’s the fourteenth round. He's draped himself all over the president.

STEELE: But, more importantly gentlemen and lady –

FINEMAN: It did not show any kind of definition of his own vision.

(crosstalk)

STEELE: But, more importantly –

FINEMAN: What was the Romney Doctrine? What was the Romney Doctrine?

REID: Well, Michael Steele talked about finer points. Let me put one final point – from a visual standpoint. The sweating was distracting. Like he was really covered in sweat – Romney was.

Boor Riley says Mitt was being non confrontational to convince the women vote that he was soft and cudly.

I can’t wait to watch Morning Joe on November 7th if Romney wins. I usually avoid MSNBC like the plague, but if Romney wins, I want to see these guys hallucinate.

Hey Prissy, how about fact checking that Whopper Zero told about Mitt and GM....

Mitt should have said, Mr. President you’ve been telling so many whoppers lately I expect to see you show up at one on your campaign rallys dressed as the Burger King.

The close quarters sure didn’t keep barry obama from being “disrespectful.”

On another note, barry obama is looking a LOT older recently.

If Romney wins i’m sure MSNBC will be the last network to call it. I’m switching to their channel to watch the meltdown. Well for as long as I can stomach it anyway,

These folks are delusional.

That's part of the job applicant screening process for MSNBC. They also look for "hypocritical" and "slavish obedience".

I always loved this quote: you stop telling lies about me and I agree to stop telling the truth about you.

The best summary I’ve found is this one:

“In the final debate, people who are truly undecided - i.e. who could as easily vote for Obama as Romney - were not looking to see who could land the hardest punch. Rather, they were looking to see which man had what it took to take a few punches and stand strong and Presidential.”

Realizing it’s hard to put ourselves in those shoes, who do you think the undecided voter was more impressed by? The Great Poll on Nov. 6 will provide the answer.

Perhaps they should add Schieffer as a co-host on Matthews’ show then.

On another note, barry obama is looking a LOT older recently.

Even on my crappy tv, I could tell he had a serious case of bloodshot eyes last night.

I’m sure that Tingles was disappointed that Romney was allowed to say anything at all.
