Sen. John McCain (R-Ari.) blasted President Obama for his snarky cheap shots at Mitt Romney during Monday nights debate, calling them unpresidential.
The president had his snarky cheap shot remarks which are both unpresidential and not likeable, McCain told "Fox and Friends" on Tuesday morning.
In particular, McCain pointed to one of the most talked about moments from the third and final presidential debate, in which Obama sarcastically responded to Romneys criticism of the proposed $1 trillion in defense cuts from last years Budget Control Act and sequestration.
Romney accused Obama of allowing the military to be cut to historically low levels.
Our Navy is smaller now than at any time since 1917, Romney said. The Navy said they needed 313 ships to carry out their mission. Were now at under 285. Were headed down to the low 200s if we go through a sequestration. Thats unacceptable to me."
We also have fewer horses and bayonets, Obama responded sharply. He then added that fewer ships and planes were needed because of the development of aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines.
Its not a game of Battleship, where were counting ships, Obama said.
The president also argued that sequestration was set up by Congress, not his administration, and that it would not happen.
Obama and Congress agreed to the automatic cuts as part of a deal last summer to raise the debt ceiling. Both sides agreed that painful cuts would be implemented if a supercommittee of lawmakers failed to come up with a deficit-reduction plan.
McCain said when he debated the president in 2008, he had the principle not to stoop to that level of ridicule.

Gee, John, I thought we had nothing to worry about with this guy...
A marine tweeted Chris Wallace last night that The Marines still used bayonets.
I sure hope no one calls him Barack HUSSEIN Obama - McCain will get pissed!
“O” is your typical Liberal when it comes to discussion or argument.
Since no Liberal position is backed up by logic or facts, they’re always at an obvious loss when confronting Conservatives... who bring facts and logic to every discussion.
In “O’s” case, he reverted to type very quickly and predictably. Undignified, ill-mannered and malicious street corner speech and behavior passes for intellect with them.
O was positively undignified, if he was anything at all last night.
Those are British soldiers.
I was thinking that the best way to keep McCain under control and voting with the Republicans is to flatter him. Romney should keep consulting him on foreign policy and military issues. McCain would love it and would love Romney for respecting his “superior knowledge and experience”.
I don’t think McLame is a born loser. I think he just grew into the role.
I suppose that when you have nothing of substance to say, these "gotch" phrases sound good to the Left, but they fail to understand the end result when folks realize how childish they are. This particular one also showed Zero to be totally unfit as CinC - if you can't be serious about this topic, you just don't take anything serious. Sounde like a snarky 5th grader trying to talk down to Einstein.
“I can tell you that US Marines were told to fix bayonets while in a house south of Baghdad during the 04 elections. The fact is the use of the bayonet is still used today and will be as long as infantry is in use”
He may not have been “presidential”,
but he was certainly “communityorginizerational”.
That’s amazing yldstrk.
From the link:
While conceding GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has some issues I dont like, the Rock and Roll All Nite singer praised the former Massachusetts governor.
[Romneys] much more qualified. Hes a businessman, ran the Olympics into profit it was a disaster before he came along. Hes run businesses. He knows how to create jobs.
Simmons, 63, offered faint praise of Obama.
President Obama is a wonderful family man, and thats where the résumé stops,” he said.
When asked during an April interview on Fox News Channel whom he was picking for president, the long-tongued entertainer replied, Strictly speaking on the economy and in my humble opinion, Mitt Romney.
Hmmm, this from the guy that campaigned for Obama in 08?
A marine tweeted Chris Wallace last night that The Marines still used bayonets.
I had to LOL at that!
Psst...We do count ships...just like Battleship.
My son reminded me on the phone that he (and many others) fought and used his bayonet in combat in Iraq...to say nothing of the soldiers and marines who DO use horses in Afghanistan.
The last four years we have been deluged with outrages of such scope and proportion it’s honestly difficult for the mind to conceive. I think that’s why remarks like this from the president get so much attention - it’s emblematic of every one of his disdainful, ignorant and disgusted views of our country.
In his mind it’s bayonets, corpsemen...whatever.
McCain, message for you. You are dead tree in the woods and no one else is around. I think that means there is no sound when you sway back and forth or fall down. We cannot hear you!
I’ve been in a room with McCain more than once. He is nuts. Seriously, he is mad as a hatter. Wacko. He should be in a straight jacket, not in the US Senate.
