AVENPORT, Iowa The Obama campaigns strategy of winning the election with the help of Hispanic voters was on full display Wednesday as President Obama promised to achieve immigration reform next year, and a top aide predicted the countrys fast-growing number of minority voters will propel the president to a second term.
In an interview that the White House originally insisted be kept off the record, Mr. Obama told an Iowa newspaper that hes confident he will achieve immigration reform next year if hes re-elected.
Since this is off the record, I will just be very blunt, Mr. Obama told the editor and publisher of the Des Moines Register in a 30-minute phone call. Should I win a second term, a big reason I will win a second term is because the Republican nominee and the Republican Party have so alienated the fastest-growing demographic group in the country, the Latino community.
It was the latest in a series of appeals by the president this year to Latino voters, whose clout could make the difference in battleground states such as Florida, Colorado, Nevada, Virginia and Iowa. In the campaigns final two weeks, the presidents political strategists are focused mainly on exciting Mr. Obamas supporters to go to the polls, despite high unemployment among minorities. In polls, Mr. Obama holds a lead of more than 30 percentage points over Republican nominee Mitt Romney among Hispanic voters.
Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said minority early-voting patterns in swing states are encouraging.

In every state, there are going to be more Latino voters than there were four years ago, Mr. Plouffe said. In Florida, theres going to be hundreds of thousands more Latinos and African-Americans voting than there were last time. The demographics of some of these states are already improved, through nothing weve done. The electorate is just more friendly to the president than it was four years ago.
Incredible.
The Community Organizer is counting on illegal alien voter fraud to carry him through. Why else would you promise "Immigration Reform" except to give people who broke our laws (and ARE breaking our laws) encouragement that you will repeal our present laws?
Here is the truth translator of what the Gay Muslim is saying:
'All those charges that we want to flood the nation with Illegals so that they can break the law and vote for Democrats is, of course, true! We pay them off with Food Stamps, Unemployment, Section 8 Housing, Welfare cash payments, tuition assistance, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Disability checks they don't deserve, and in turn we get the votes and promise to repeal our immigration laws....that is when I am not declaring outright Unconstitutional Amnesty anyway.'
” The Community Organizer is counting on illegal alien voter fraud to carry him through.”
No surprise here.
Why isn’t that grounds for instant impeachment?
I dearly hope this piece of crap gets utterly humiliated on election day.
Obama chooses his words carefully, but he leaves no doubt what he means.
Vows immigration reform in 2013?
Good luck with that former Prezbo 0bama.
I hope he loses, and then a paparazzi camera catches a shot of Mooch punching out his no-longer Presidential ass.
Where does it say Obama is counting on illegal aliens voting for him? Obama and the Democrats don’t need that. There are lots MORE perfectly legal Hispanics that are voting Democratic this cycle. We are losing this demographic so badly now that in another generation (probably less) we are not even going to be able to win Texas and Arizona.
There are not enough white people moving to the Republican party fast enough to overcome the massive demographic changes. This is why we struggle in Colorado, Nevada, even North Carolina now. Its LEGAL Hispanics voting overwhelmingly Democrat that is the problem. Obama is simply promising them immigration reform which is an issue they care about.
Most conservatives seem to not understand the magnitude of this problem. If the demographics were the same today as they were in 1980, Reagan may have lost or only eeked out a win by a whisker. It’s that bad and the Democrats don’t need illegals for this.
Have you ever heard of birthright citizenship?
Illegals have overun our country, taken our welfare, crowded our schools
and emergency rooms.
They use welfare at a much higher rate than native born citizens.
But their children can vote. Because they were born here. Thus citizens.
” Most conservatives seem to not understand the magnitude of this problem. “
No they don’t. But Obama is definitely pandering for the illegals to vote for him.
You give it a real fancy name its called “Squat and drop “ citizenship
Yes, they are legal voters though. I don't like that they can come here and squirt out a little Democrat voter either, but they can and that isn't going to change. Legal Hispanic voters is what is what is overwhelming us. We either find a way to win some of that demographic and reverse the trend where every minority group (even Asians) vote overwhelmingly Democrat, or we will not be able to win many state and national elections going forward. California is our future if we can't find a way to stop it.
He’s a hateful racist.
To prevent large demographic shifts and an increase in people with a biased agenda, those who believe that character is what matters - not skin color - are going to have to start having a lot more children.
You nailed it. It is legal immigration that is the most responsible for changing the demographics of this country. It won’t take long for the Dems to be the permanent majority party.
Yeah, but you are talking about successful people - the producers of society. The problem is the wealth they generate seems to provide enough other options in life for them to not have many children. The demographic change is going to continue. I post less now these days because I am not optimistic about our future and believe we've already crossed the tipping point.
Well, in response the Republican party will simply become far more liberal on immigration issues. Traditional, conservative folks like us will all get mad, throw fits, scream and yell, but in the end this is a 2 party system and the GOP will move where it needs to be to compete. That is just how 2 party systems work.
Personally, I think we are on the road to California. I will dutifully march out and vote for Mitt. I encourage everyone to do the same. But I think we are headed for a time where nearly all productive people will be voting the same way - and will still lose most elections to the collectivist party/candidates.
I hope this election proves me wrong. I hope Romney can pull off a win and at least keep the courts from swinging far left over the next 4 years. If we can win this election, we give ourselves a chance to organize and fight back. I fear all is lost if Obama wins again (which is what I believe will happen in the end).
The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 90 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.
The nations immigrant population (legal and illegal) reached 40 million in 2010, the highest number in our history. The U.S. immigrant population has doubled since 1990, nearly tripled since 1980, and quadrupled since 1970, when it stood at 9.7 million. Of the 40 million immigrants in the country in 2010, 13.9 million arrived in 2000 or later making it the highest decade of immigration in American history, even though there was a net loss of jobs during the decade.
Growth in the immigrant population has primarily been driven by high levels of legal immigration. Roughly three-fourths of immigrants in the country are here legally. With nearly 12 million immigrants, Mexico was by far the top immigrant-sending country, accounting for 29 percent of all immigrants and 29 percent of growth in the immigrant population from 2000 to 2010. The median age of immigrants in 2010 was 41.4 compared to 35.9 for natives.
Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in a net immigration of 1.25 million. Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 310 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by an additional 130 million to 440 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the worlds third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country in the world, i.e., 0.963% (2011 estimate,) principally due to immigration.
By 2019 half of the children 18 and under in the U.S. will be classified as minorities and by 2042, half of the residents of this country will be minorities. Generally, immigrants and minorities vote predominantly for the Democrat Party. Hence, Democrats view immigration as a never-ending source of voters that will make them the permanent majority party. Immigrants and minorities vote Democrat.
The 300,000 children born to illegal aliens (birthright citizenship) are not included in these numbers.
