WESTMINSTER, Colo. — According to FOX31′s Justin Joseph, the 17-year-old suspected of abducting and murdering 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway was arrested after he confessed to his mother, who then turned him in to police.

Citing an anonymous law enforcement source, Joseph confirmed those details and was also able to report that the suspect, Austin Reed Sigg, had aspirations to become a mortician.

Records show Sigg is currently attending Arapahoe Community College in Littleton and that he is a graduate of Standley Lake High School in Westminster.

FOX31 investigative reporter Heidi Hemmat has confirmed that Austin Reed Sigg’s mother is Mindy Sigg, and that police arrested her son on Tuesday night at her home, which is located in Westminster approximately 1.5 miles away from where Ridgeway was abducted on Oct. 5.

Ridgeway was found dismembered and murdered in an Arvada open space area on Oct. 10. Police say Austin Sigg will be charged with an attempted abduction on May 28 at Ketner Lake in Westminster, as well.

This POS lived 2 miles away from me. I have 4 daughters and have been worried sick. I can never let them out my sight.

Clearly the kid had problems, and his mother has probably been expecting something like this for a long time. I always think how horrible it must be if you’re the mother of somebody like this and realize that the only thing you can do is pick up the phone and call the police.

The mother of those two teenagers in NJ who killed a young girl for her bike had to do the same thing.

Well, prayers for all the family members on both sides; this must be hellish.

I also live not far away in Golden.

Colorado has had a tri-fecta of crazies this year and we have two months to go.

First the Batman movie killer.

Then Jessica Ridgeway.

Then the guy who poisoned his mother, dismembered and placed in the back of his SUV. This never became a national story, and just happened this month.

All of them psychotic sociopath losers, who scared those near them before they went off.

I can only imagine the heartbreak of each mother upon turning in their own child. (I am in no way comparing it to the families of the 2 murdered girls-it is a different pain).

My mom was telling me about that. Didn't realize it happened here in CO.

Don’t forget the bar murders the other night, in Denver. We have had a bad October.
