Others who worked with Obama reached similar conclusions. He doesnt listen to anyone, a former top economic aide told a friend. Outsiders invited to meet with him concluded it was all for show, that he was not interested in what they had to say.
That he rarely talks to congressional leaders, including fellow Democrats, has become such a staple of Washington that it has ceased to be news. He apparently believes it is beneath him to consult or get into the details of legislation.
Then again, he doesnt talk to members of his Cabinet much either, so hes consistent in his isolation. He reportedly watched last years Super Bowl alone.
All of which begs the initial question: Whats to like about Barack Obama? Sure, hes got that big smile and the cool factor of being young and the first black president, but is that all there is? And is it enough?
Consider that, in a nation where millions are out of work with no hope of finding any, and where America faces serious security threats, we have a president who cant handle criticism or disagreement, and who marches only to the drummer in his head.
His estrangement echoes Herman Melvilles protagonist in Bartleby, the Scrivener, the mysterious oddball who answers work requests with, I would prefer not to.
But lets give Obama his greatest due. He did manage to get elected president, which means he fooled more than half the people once. As one of those suckers in 2008, Im still wondering how he hid that contempt from so many people for so long.

That's one of the creepiest things I've ever read about him.
al Qaeda-defending Constitution-Hating child-burning AG:
"This article matters not,
our Dear Leader is YOUR King.
On the morrow the author will be arrested
by Marshalls from my Department of "Justice."
He is an introvert who genuinely doesn’t like people. Not the kind of person you want in a leadership position. It must mentally exhaust him to be around people and have to give speeches all the time. The perks of the Office and the chance to enforce his ideology on everyone is probably the only thing driving him.
Barack Obama won in 2008 because people made him out to be whom they wanted. He was fresh, exciting and offered the country something it hadn’t seen before - and he was full of promise. That is the Obama the country voted to have as its President.
I think people responded very positively to that Obama and they still do. The problem for Obama is he is no longer that kind of man and these days he seems distant, petty and small. That is the real reason for his looming defeat as well as on account of his mismanagement of the economy.
Obama will be remembered as a footnote in the history books, as a guy who offered us the moon and never got us as a nation, there.
He is a very odd man. Can’t figure him out & feel there is a lot we don’t know. I wonder if the “real” Obama will be revealed once he leaves office and no longer has to put up a fake veneer just to impress.
Ummm, he didn’t hide it, Michael. Everything was there to see for anyone who wanted to ......
Or as Freeeper arasina would put it:
He offered the nation the moon...and then mooned the nation.;-)
Perfect makeup of a dictator.
Meant to ping you to post 9 above (you were mentioned).
Obama is what we referred to in our youths as a jerk-off.
He makes those snarky comments all the time. His whole tone of voice is mocking.
I mean, among friends we bust each other’s chops, but this guy does it to really ridicule.
Does he have any friends (even among his political allies, anybody really chummy?
I’m convinced he was warped by his unusual childhood, furthered by his college-days associations (as evidenced by those who surfaced in young adulthood - Ayers & Rev. Wright to name a few).
Along this same line of criticism, one of the most under reported stories of the Obama Presidency is how not even the Democratic Senate ever supported any of his budgets (not counting the very first one). This fact just lays out there and to me, it just says everything about Obama’s failure of leadership and communication.
It’s certainly true the House of Reps don’t like Obama but, its just as true that the Dem led senate doesn’t like him either. He’s apparently a pariah in his own party and this fact alone is enough to vote him out.
Those seeking an explanation for the fiasco in Libya need look no further than this—Nothing more than callous indifference.
One of the liberals on a Fox panel said she didn’t even know why he is running again “He doesn’t even like people.”
After setting aside his blackness, he knows he is inferior, not up to the job.
He is what he is. An arrogant, narcissistic a-hole who cannot stand to be around those who he believes are lower than he is. And that is everyone.
He believes has is the smartest man in the world.
My take on the budgets is different. The Dems knew that by not approving a new budget, they would use baseline increases on the old budget as spending guidelines. That way they were able to spend more than they ever could with any budget that would have passed both the House and Senate. So, none of Obama's budgets were serious, and he and his Party were aligned despite the vote.
Indeed. I too believe he has the makeup to be dictator. I believe he’s truly diabolical, a real psychopath. I have a hard time understanding why everyone can’t see his inner darkness.
Oh I think he is far more disdainful than we believe. If he spoke what he truely believed we wouln’t be in this Hellish nightmare! He has fooled the weak minded but even they would be horrified with the truth.
