Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

I'm afraid the exalted days for our nation may be drawing to a close. One day the applicable biblical phrase might be "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin."

We've been laughing as we sped toward the cliff for so long that people still don't realize we went on over the edge when the majority gave control of Congress back to the democrat fascists back in '97. We've been so blessed and safe for so long that it's a long, long, way to the bottom and takes a while to get there, but now we're pretty close to the bottom.

This election isn't really about turning anything around, either. It's about who is going to be in charge of picking up the pieces when the whole mess comes to a sudden stop as it hits the bottom of that very tall cliff we drove over.

How long, O Lord (holy and true) dost thou not judge and revenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth ?

After making a point of telling the world we're a Christian nation for so long the bill for the more than fifty million who have been murdered by abortion and the three to five times as many who have been murdered by abortifacient contraceptives won't be much longer in coming. Being given over to a reprobate mind is just God's way of letting us know the full bill is on the way.

In the mean time, some folks who claim to be Christian pass their time by pointing out that a great many of those in the Catholic minority do not live their faith. It's their way of diverting attention from the fact that the Protestant majority drinks the corrupted pus of this society to the dregs, up to and including approving of the use of contraceptives as a way to participate in the mass murder of infants.

That phrase was amply applied in this very worthy book, the horrifying follow-up to the excellent America Alone:

After America: Get Ready for Armageddon

by Mark Steyn

Optimistic About America’s Future?

Don’t Be.

In his giant New York Times bestseller, America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It, Mark Steyn predicted collapse for the rest of the Western World. Now, he adds, America has caught up with Europe on the great rush to self-destruction.

It’s not just our looming financial collapse; it’s not just a culture that seems on a fast track to perdition, full of hapless, indulgent, childish people who think government has the answer for every problem; it’s not just America’s potential eclipse as a world power because of the drunken sailor policymaking in Washington—no, it’s all this and more that spells one word for America: Armageddon.

What will a world without American leadership look like? It won’t be pretty—not for you and not for your children. America’s decline won’t be gradual, like an aging Europe sipping espresso at a café until extinction (and the odd Greek or Islamist riot). No, America’s decline will be a wrenching affair marked by violence and possibly secession.

With his trademark wit, Steyn delivers the depressing news with raw and unblinking honesty—but also with the touch of vaudeville...that makes him the most entertaining, yet profound, columnist on the planet. And as an immigrant with nowhere else to go, he offers his own prescription for winning America back from the feckless and arrogant liberal establishment that has done its level best to suffocate the world’s last best hope in a miasma of debt, decay, and debility. You will not read a more important—or more alarming, or even funnier—book all year than After America.
