Gov. Jerry Brown continues stumping today for his tax initiative, Proposition 30, as a new Public Policy Institute of California poll finds that support for it among likely voters has dropped below 50 percent.
The outlook for Molly Munger's rival measure, Proposition 38, is even less bright, as David Siders reported last night.

Good. NO NEW TAXES!!!
I will be voting NO.
My kid's school district, San Marcos Unified, is actually providing parents and posting on their website two separate '12-'13 school calendars, one if we pass prop 30 and a shortened one if we do not.
They no longer need to pretend that "it's for the Children".
They now have sufficient political influence to threaten: "you will comply or we will punish you!".
Looks like Brown needs a new proposition (tax) to prop up the teachers retirement fund.
Raise your hand if you’re SICK AND TIRED OF ‘SCHOOLS’, ‘EDUCATION’, ‘CHILDREN’, ‘KIDS’, ‘STUDENTS’ being used as pawns to enlist support for propositions that steal tax money FOR UNION AND TEACHER’S PENSION FUNDS. Aren’t BILLIONS of dollars of State Lottery money enough??!!
Is one of these the TV ad that says if you make $2MM per year your taxes only increase $76,000 and if you make $25-50k per year your taxes only increase $54. (Only $76,000 lol)
I’ve already voted NO on both of them.
Same here! & yes on 32..
No worries...the CA lottery will take care of everything (rolling eyes)
Agreed!
I’ve been preaching against them both to our PTO and anyone else who will listen, but I’m one voice in the wilderness. The main excuse—and let’s be clear, there are only “excuses” for voting for either measure—is that without them automatic school cuts go into effect. My rebuttal: “so you are voting for a measure because the Governor and Legislature have a gun to your head. Let me guess, you’ve also voted to keep those same people in office all of these years?”
I still think that Prop 30 has a good chance of passing, the stupidity of California voters should never be under estimated. Voted against it and it’s ugly sister prop 38 while voting for prop 32 already (mailed my ballot in this week).
I don’t think most people realize that prop 30 if passed taxes all income for this year (2012)! So if passed it’s already too late to do anything about it.
