Senator Grant Mitchell, an Alberta Liberal appointed to the Senate in 2005 by Paul Martin, says he fears parliamentarians may start taking bribes if they have to pay for their own pensions.

According to a report in the Huffington Post, Mitchell is worried that new legislation raising the share senators and MPs have to pay towards their retirement benefits are so draconian it could force them into a life of crime:

“All of our MPs are above reproach, but the pressures of not making enough money can become an issue and that is why [take-home salary] needs to be maintained at a certain level,” Mitchell said.”We could talk about brown paper bags with cash in it, because there is pressure all the time. That is why pay needs to be absolutely adequate.”

Libs always threaten crime when they are losing...as Ann Coulter has said. If they do the crime, they will do the time.

Perhaps the Code of Hammurabi should be applied?

Liberal senator fears costlier pensions will drive colleagues to crime

They have already elected to follow a life of crime. It's called POLITICS.

Senator Grant Mitchell, an Alberta Liberal appointed to the Senate in 2005 by Paul Martin showed himself today to be a dishonest man.

He openly admitted that he and his peers “.... may start taking bribes if they have to pay for their own pensions.”

This corruption should be investigated by the RCMP fraud team.
