Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was taken to a hospital on Friday afternoon after a multiple-car crash in Nevada.
The extent of his injuries is unknown although Nevada Highway Patrol public information officer Loy Hixson said Reid's injuries did not appear to be life threatening, according to CNN.
The crash occurred on Interstate 15, according to Las Vegas's KTNV, which runs near the Las Vegas strip.
It happened around 1 p.m. local time and involved multiple cars, including two Metro vehicles, two Capital Police vehicles and two civilian vehicles, according to local Fox affiliate KVVU-TV.
Officers on the scene described it as a chain-reaction crash, according to the Associated Press.
As a member of the Congressional leadership, Reid gets protection from Capitol Police, some of whose vehicles were involved in the crash.
Reid, 72, was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

From what I hear, it’s safer to drive in Vegas than to be admitted to a Vegas hospital. That’s not a joke.
I’m glad the injuries are not life threatening and that he doesn’t have to depend on ObamaCare so the medical decisions will not be life threatening. I just hope he uses this as an opportunity to consider what he and the far left have been doing to decent people - and whether he wants to follow a positive path in the future.
