Hoover worked for Wilson, so I would say he was a Democrat (at least up until around 1920). As I said before, his becoming a Republican for Harding had solely to do with the fact that he didn’t want to be swept out aligning himself with the Democrats.

As for Ike, I rank him poorly for a number of reasons. He essentially left the GOP in ruins (in some cases, worse than Hoover did, with 1958 being the worst GOP decimation in a single election). His administration did not work aggressively to root out 20 years of Soviet infiltration (as aired by McCarthy) under FDR-Truman, which is the biggest scandal of the 20th century bar none. He was ultimately happy to see McCarthy ruined and preserve the status quo (or at least allow only the most desultory actions on the subject). He essentially hung Nixon out to dry in 1960, which would pave the way for the catastrophe of the following decade (for which we haven’t recovered).

Ultimately, if there are two people I wish had never been elected in the 20th century on our side, Ike & Hoover top the list (in the case of the latter, Coolidge should’ve run for one final full term and in Ike’s case, running the ticket of Taft-MacArthur, where the latter would’ve taken over 6 months in would’ve been preferable). I think MacArthur would’ve been a great President.

Well his suckypedia page says he was a registered Republican before WW1 and supported TR in 1912 (who ran to the left of Wilson who pretended to be a conservative democrat even though he wasn’t and ended up a much worse President than TR).

It also says he considered switching in 1920 and accepting the rat Presidential overtures (there is a sourced quote of FDR praising Hoover LOL) but thought the rats would lose the election so he declined, this sounds like John McCain considering Kerry’s VP offer, or Ray LaHood serving in Obama’s cabinet, POS RINO scumbags. He’s at least on honorary democrat. Mr. we don’t want a man like Herbert Hoover again (should be Coolidge in that lyric like you’ve said, but it’s harder to mock Coolidge).

Ike, yes you are right. I give some points for the interstate highways (an actual accomplishment) and not being as bad as most other Republican Presidents. As a party leader he gets an F probably.

Maybe Nixon would have been better if he had been elected in ‘60 and we’d have been spared the Kennedy era.

There used to be a freeper with the handle “Taft in ‘52”. MacArthur should have run himself.
