KABUL — Of the more than 5,700 Afghans who have applied for U.S. visas under a special program tailored for those who have supported the American war effort, just 32 have been approved. In 2009, the Afghan Allies Protection Act allocated 7,500 visas for Afghans employed by the U.S. government to thousands of men and women critical to the American mission, many of whom serve on the front lines with U.S. troops. Without a swift escape route, they will be high-priority targets for the Taliban... Until late 2011, the U.S. Embassy in Kabul did not process a single visa under the Afghan Allies program, according to the State Department.

No, it's not another Viet Nam other than being failed policy. Viet Nam was a righteous war against communism that we could have won if not for Cronkite and the hippies. Aftganiscrap is a war that can never be won because no one in the entire country wants civil rights or freedom, unlike South Viet Nam.
Watch. Once we are out, we will see women executed for the most simplest reasons (already occurring around Muslim nations). The National Organization of Women (NOW or NAG) will stand on the sidelines as they always do and whine about their perceived slights.

The sad fact of life is that we don't know who among those immigrants is trustworthy and who is a sleeper. Being on the front lines is not enough - there were incidents when Afghans shot at NATO soldiers; since everyone had loaded weapons, I presume they were not at a picnic. Even if the man of the family is a true hero and fully supports the USA, his son or his brother may be marching to a different tune - and there is no way to know, except "by their fruits."
It is the UK that desperately needs those Afghani allies: thanks to Ted Kennedy, the U.S. gladly accepts Somalis, who haven't translated anything into English for anybody. /s

It's not America's problem or responsibility. They were hired to perform a job. That's it. Why is it that the USA is the only option for these people? Why don't they go to France or England? They seem to love Moslems.

I’m comparing Afghanistan to Viet Nam in that we are failing to admit the Afghani interpreters into this country, just as so many Vietnamese were left behind when we pulled out.
That, to me, was the most disgraceful part of Viet Nam, hands down. Pulling out was one thing, abandoning those who trusted us was unforgivable.
