Amanda Rubio, daughter of Florida Senator Marco Rubio, was airlifted to Miami Childrens Hospital on Saturday after she was involved in a golf-cart accident in a private gated community.
The 12-year-old girl was in fair condition in a pediatric intensive care unit Saturday night, according to friends. Rubio was notified of the accident after coming off stage while campaigning with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Kissimmee. Rubio left the campaign trail to return to Miami.
At Miami Childrens Hospital late Saturday, Miami-Dade Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, a family friend, said Amanda had suffered from a concussion.
She had a concussion. Shes doing better, Sosa said. And we thank everyone for your prayers and your support for the family. And we hope that shes going to be OK very soon.
She added that the family is next to her, and he (Rubio) is already in the hospital, said Sosa.

Good to know she will be ok.
What does "private gated community" have to do with this story?
God bless you, my Senator Rubio, your daughter and, your entire family and loved ones!!! Our prayers are with you!!!
Probably wanting to make the point she wasn’t out on a public highway in a golf cart at 12.
My faithful and continued prayers for this sweet girl and for Marco Rubio’s family.
There has to be more to this story than they’re reporting. Airlifted and intensive care for a concussion? Either the first responders knew she was Senator Rubio’s daughter or she had a very low Glasgow scale rating at the scene.
My take would be as it’s the Miami Herald, about as Leftist a publication as they come that it was a typically snotty, and uncalled for jab at the kid being in an elitist compound of the privileged.
These sorts of publications all wrapped up in class warfare from Leftist perspectives often make such silly commentary in their articles.
There was also the case of the 14 year old girl in Columbus who died after taking a stray NHL hockey puck to the face. She got prompt attention and it didn't look life-threatening at first. I don't recall what went wrong later.
Better safe than sorry.
When I was a new mother years ago, my little one year old tumbled from a very small riding toy to smack her head on cement. The humongous bump that appeared on her head scared me into next month! The doctor said - the swelling must go somewhere, either in or out - thank God in our case it was outward. Could it be something like this? I agree with the others - airlifted is serious.
I am thankful for her improved condition. Prayers to all.
Exactly...head injuries are no joke.
I know of a kid that died from a head injury from a golf cart while on summer vacation with his family. Head injuries, no matter how they happen are a serious and dangerous matter.
My daughter is doing well today, she made a miraculous recovery but was in a coma for days and in ICU for a month and in in-patient rehab for two months, and out-patient rehab for nearly a year. I pray for Amanda to make a full recovery. It was only through the grace of God that my daughter recovered.
Because those tend to be the communities where people ride in golf carts when not playing golf?
My take would be as its the Miami Herald, about as Leftist a publication as they come that it was a typically snotty, and uncalled for jab at the kid being in an elitist compound of the privileged.

Earlier threads here on FR indicated that the girl was VISITING her friend, who lived in that community.
So what!? MY POINT was the Miami Herald was taking their inherent, and usual Leftist perspective opportunity to slam the Republicans as elitists be it Rubio, a Tinker, a Tailor, or a Candlestick Maker. Doesn’t matter to them. Politics is in everything they do, write, publish even if it’s about a little girl injured VISITING friends.
The point was the perspective, and liberty taken by the Leftist News entity.
