When planning the construction of my chicken tractor, I found the guidelines to state; 1 - 3 sq.ft. inside and 2-4 sq. ft. outside.

My mobile chicken coop is 4X8X6 coop w/ 12X8X7 run (fenced in)

Very clever and utilitarian design if I do say so myself ... and I DO say so myself.

I may build a tractor for bed cleaning next season. For the most part, they range through four paddocks and graduate in late season to unlimited range. Haven’t lost one to a predator yet but they also have a snug, bullet-proof coop they head for before the sun goes down. No vampire problems, either.
