On the heels of the Des Moines Registers endorsement, Mitt Romney snagged endorsements today from the three other major Iowa papers: the Cedar Rapids Gazette, the Quad City Times, and the Sioux City Journal. Economic issues tipped the balance here, and the Gazette captured the sentiment expressed in all four endorsements:

Very nice. I don’t know about the other newspapers but the DMR endorsement was a big shocker to Iowans and good for us. ;)

I know a lot of boneheads who believe everything in the paper and this will definitely influence them.
On another note, RR will be here tomorrow and I plan to see them with my kids.
I was shocked to see the Register’s endorsement online last night. I wouldn’t have believed the Quad City Time’s except that I read it with my own eyes this morning. They’ve been unreadably pro-Obama for four years. I trust Obama filed a missing persons report. I hope the regular editors don’t get rescued until after the polls close; but I do want them there the day after. I want schadenfreude!

So, given the state of the print media these days, is it possible the Register et. al. saw this as necessary to placate their few remaining subscribers?
I just don't envision the 47% buying many newspapers (let alone any advertising space in them).
