IMNSHO, Coulter's choice of labels for Obama was not helpful.

Coulter is a pot-stirrer par excellence. A polemicist, an entertainer -- but, not an intellectual, moral or strategic leader of conservatism. She says what she says, to rile up the masses -- which, is good for her business; but not necessarily good for the cause. It is (again, IMNSHO) a mistake to double-down on this, by defending her.
