I plan to drink heavily early in the evening and go to bed if at all possible.

Jack and cranberry juice on crushed ice in a very cold glass will be my poison. I am not generally a drinker so it should not take much.

In the case of victory I will save celebrations for a major blowout on inauguration day. In the event of a loss I plan to go to the bank draw a large sum of cash, load up the truck with diesel and provisions and take a very long drive to see the country one last time in as near a state as I want to remember it as possible. Once that is done I will decide what to do next.

It's AfterFreeRepublic. AfterFreeRepublic. I haven't been there in a pretty long time but I just checked and the site is still up and active.

When FR is down I go to the Yahoo Group for updates.

I have the same lag time issue. But other FReepers I mentioned that to don't.

My problem seemed to start after I added a Card Reader to my pc, which I did one day when FR was down. So I don't know what the problem is.

But yeah, it can be irritating. I edit and preview a LOT so it can take me a 1/2 hour for one post with the lag time issue.

All other websites connect just fine for me. Odd.

I agree - the FaceBook page is a place to get status updates when things are down, but not much else.

I like the Breitbart site, but that is more original content from the Breitbart.com authors than it is a news aggregator. TheBlaze is better on that, but still not the same as FR. FR is unique as a great news aggregator (due to the large base of posters) as well as a forum which supports posting of replies.

The heck with hitting “Latest Posts” for over 12 hours.

I will be playing Halo 4 co-op with my son.

Nobody gives a rats behind what I care or object to, nothing I say will have any historical impact and what I truly want or need to say would get my posts pulled by the mods.

Actions speak louder than words and I do not want my actions recorded, observed or captured on the web, good or bad, sorry to be such a flameout but in all honesty I am getting old and I just don’t see it wasting away posting on the web 24/7. Besides I have some long distance travel to Australia coming up.

It is true that Jim’s advice helped me a LOT yesterday when I modified the front page sidebar. I don’t think it will hold in traffic but yesterday it certainly helped going from function to function, page to page once you are on FR. However, I simply can not get on the site 90% of the time, and I was mad at myself yesterday for trying so hard. I am addicted to FR and have the time to come and go, but since the day before the third debate it’s been untenable. Breaking a habit is hard I have discovered. LOL!

Here’s my dilemma.

I have an emai address on my lap top, but since it blew up I use my cell phone which does not receive mail to that email address. I have used that email address to sign up for Disqus to post elsewhere.

Now to sign up at the alternative site, I can enter that email address but it is useless, though paid for, until I decide to get a new laptop.

Will that work?

Hi Rita,

You should be able to access your email account on the web. If it's through your ISP, go to the ISP's website and log into your account. You should have a mail account there.

You're welcome to sign up at altfreerepublic. People have used fake email addresses to sign up (I get an 'undeliverable email' message after the confirmation email is sent to a fake address) - those people are able to post. They just don't get the "Welcome to the forum" email which includes their username and password.

All we need is a chat server for the live thread.

Can’t we do this? Couldn’t FR include a chat room? It would be perfect for live threads. Why not?!
