Thousands of houses on the Jersey shore are going to be a total loss. There’s enormous amounts of damage where the media haven’t been - like Staten Island. Fire Island has likely been savaged.

Colorado fire damage will end up being trivial in comparison. The population density of this area is beyond belief. The media right now will be focusing on the most photogenic areas.

Maybe the only good thing to come of the hurricane would be the cancellation of the idiotic show - even if the cast members grew up a little because of the experience...I can hope.

In the meantime, the east coast remains in my prayers.

“The media right now will be focusing on the most photogenic areas.”

Correction — they will focus on the most photogenic areas they can get to cheaply and easily.

I remember the 2004 tidal wave in the Indian Ocean — you would have thought the thing only hit Phuket — the upscale Thai resort island with international air connections where about 2500 were killed.

No one bothered to report from the whole west coast of India where 200,000 were killed.
