Strong Monday Early Voting for GOP in Washoe and Clark Counties

Washoe County (thanks to Paul8148 for the data)

A Washoe County win for the GOP casting 2859 ballots versus 2705 for Democrats achieving a net 164 ballot gain. This is huge for the GOP as they needed to reverse the slide in Washoe and they did so with gusto. The overall turnout was below our expectations but that is more concerning for Democrats as questions regarding voter enthusiasm have continued to creep into their early vote results.

Clark County (thanks to vnClark for the data)

The gap in all-important Clark County narrowed dramatically on Monday with Democrats casting 14,113 ballots and Republicans casting Republicans 12,492 — by far the best comparative for Republicans in 2008 or 2008. This performance compressed the % contribution to 42.8% for Democrats and 37.9% for Republicans. The two day move for Republicans is fantastic news for Team Nevada and bodes well during this big final week of early voting. The turnout was below our model’s expectation but the steep climb from Republicans would give a strong boost to expected growth that we will update after Tuesday’s numbers.

Charts expected later.

The rats had a huge early vote advantage in Nevada during the 2008 election...about 20%!!

If yesterday’s trend continues this week, RR may start Nov 6th less than 8% down and with more than a fighting chance to put Nevada’s 6 EV’s in their total.

Wow - that’s really informative. Wish we had a clue where it is.

There are two key numbers: 1) assuming a 50/50 split with indies, what is the point at which the GOP likely cannot catch the Ds? What is the vote #?

2) Assuming a 56/44 split (which is low for Indies' support of Romney) of Is., what is that number?

Washoe Cn = Reno area.

Clark Cn = Vegas area.

Basically the 2 most populous counties in NV.

If Romney takes NV, this will be a landslide of historic proportions. It means the entire West (other than CA, WA and OR) is going for Romney.

I don’t know, but that point has obviously not been reached yet.

Nevada WOULD be a solid red state were it not for the casino unions and the hordes of illegal aliens. Last time I was in Reno ('03) it reminded me of Juarez. That's not a compliment. We cancelled our intended stay and went to Incline Village instead.

Regardless, I think we have a good shot at winning it this time.

Ha! Give him a break man. Lol. Look, washoe is reno (the quintessential bellwether for NV). In early voting in 2008, there were 47% dems and 35% repubs. Obama ended up winning in Washoe by about that amount.

Right now, in 2012, we are tied in Washoe with reps. and dems. If this holds, NV will end up being a nailbiter.

If you assume Washoe will continue to be the quintessential bellwether. I will until it is proven wrong.

In Clark county (Vegas baby!), in 2008, there were 51% dems and 30% repubs in early voting. Early voting ended up being about 70% of the total votes cast in Clark for 2008.

Right now, we have cut that margin considerably and this will be important to minimize the democratic edge coming out of Clark. Hope that helps.

IMO it’s a HUGE tell that Obama is coming to Nevada this Thursday for a rally in North LV (ground zero for zero’s base). His last stop in 2008 was in Henderson which is ground zero for middle class voters. If Bozo still needs to motivate his base this late in the campaign, I say that he is in deep do-do!

O’s last days are being spent shoring up his faltering base. He knows the election is over but he does not want to go down like Jimmy Carter did.

The saving grace he’ll get more votes than Carter did when he lost in 1980.

Nevada has the highest unemployment in the land, the highest rate of foreclosures, and gasoline at $4 a gallon. The cost of living is extremely high for the wages here.

In Reno, at work, I’ve heard many who are solid Dems talk very positive about Romney. All the Repubs are urging each other to get out and vote early. The adds on tv and radio are non-stop, and most Obama ads are about women, planned parenthood and equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t send tingles up men’s legs.

Nevada is a 2nd Ammendment state. The NRA needs to do more about that. In 08, Obama ran a ton of adds directed at sportsmen saying he had no intention of any gun control. That has openly changed. That’s opportunity.
