Obama cancels third campaigning day to oversee storm response

Obama will be in Washington to "monitor the response to Hurricane Sandy and ensure that all available federal resources continue to be provided to support ongoing state and local recovery efforts," White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement.

"As a result, the president will not participate in the campaign events that had been scheduled in Ohio tomorrow."

Obama had already skipped political events on Monday and Tuesday to be in Washington for the storm and its aftermath.

Obama held a video-teleconference in the White House Situation Room on Tuesday about the storm with top members of his team, including Vice President Joe Biden, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, and Craig Fugate, the heads of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

"During the briefing the president expressed his concern for those impacted by the storm, as well as the heroic first responders who are selflessly putting themselves in harm's way to protect members of their communities," the White House said in a statement.

The “Rose Garden” strategy.

All you have to do is look presidential - and if you’re the President, you already have a built-in advantage that no challenger can command.

Since we are talking hurricane politics, consider that the worst hit thus far are all blue states: NJ, NY, DE, MD, CT.

Electoral effect on Romney: Near zero.

Two swing states (VA, PA) have been affected, at least residually, in their blue areas (northern VA, greater Philly). This could affect turnout and certainly has affected early voting.

Electoral effect on Obama: potentially decisive in a bad way.

Well it could be true, but this is a death spasm move. Nothing has worked, nothing will work, so Obama's team just wants to run out the clock. I think the internals have got to be awful and the early reults are awful. He is looking at a blowout and is mailing it in. The long knives are coming out, Rush talked about it today. The true beleivers like the Kos Kids and the Chicago left are beginning to grumble, that Obama does not really want it. Obama sees Ohio as a goner, Iowa,NH, Nevada, Florida, NC, Va and it looks bleak in Wis, Michigan and Pa. Its over and has been over.

Another day of Obama pretending to work. More than likely he’s in the Oval Office watching episodes of “Homeland.”

Obama’s disaster plan:

How can I look best here? Oh, and if others get help, I guess that’s okay.

BS. He just wants to stay home, sleep late, watch the View and his favorite soaps, look at himself in the mirror, and go back to bed.

I’m sick of these campaign suspensions, even though this time it helps the guy I marginally prefer. Are we going to have them every election cycle now? How long until we forget about Katrina, which wasn’t the big national event they made it out to be anyway?

Well, Romney can use the "Real Disaster Relief" strategy.

He, or Ann, can have a backdrop of supplies being handed out and what services are being set up and where. The MSM can call it political all they want - it won't work.

Rush just said 0 is actually gathering with lawyers to strategize "the situation" while taking time off the campaign. Ha!

During the briefing the president expressed his concern as to how the hell he could be expected to keep the ball out of the rough with all that goddamned wind.

He sees he’s losing, so back to the Rahm playbook: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Every day we see him for what he is: a fraud.
