Campaign to resume Wednesday (Mitt on the trail again)

Mitt Romney will resume campaigning Wednesday with a trio of events in Florida, while President Obama has canceled his election events to stay in Washington to monitor fallout from the storm the ravaged the East Coast.

Romney's move effectively ends the temporary suspension in the presidential campaign triggered by the landfall of Hurricane Sandy.

Even though Obama will be focusing on coordinating response to the storm, his campaign has shown an awareness of the fact the election is only a week away. The White House updated reporters early Tuesday morning with the president's work on response efforts to Sandy and released photos of Obama meeting with federal officials.

Both campaign have been wrestling with how to best balance the demands of a presidential race and the need to project the appropriate sensitivity as the Eastern seaboard grapples with the aftermath of the storm.

Romney, sensing the need to make up ground in the crucial battleground states — and wary of losing momentum — will continue his aggressive campaign schedule through the final six days of the election. The president, meanwhile is both handicapped and helped by a day job that will likely restrict his ability to travel or campaign openly but will also provide him multiple opportunities to seize the power of the presidency.

Strategists from both sides suggest that if the president's response to the storm is seen as effective, it could buoy Obama in the campaign's waning hours.

And Obama won't be without representation on the campaign trail. Vice President Biden is scheduled to campaign in Florida on Wednesday, while former President Clinton will travel to Minnesota and Colorado on Tuesday, for a total of four events on behalf of the president.

GOP running mate Paul Ryan also returns to the campaign trail Wednesday with events in

Obama is hiding. Can’t draw a big crowd, doesn’t want to get booed. No tough questions from local press. How dare they....

If Obama is staying in the White House it is because he thinks it is better for him politically.

He could care less about the little people.

Where was he when the ice storm struck Kentucky.

I hope Romney is in FL to help Rep candidates, especially Mack, and not because he is losing his lead.

while President Obama has canceled his election events to stay in Washington

Obama is campaigning alright. He is pretending to be the president he should have been in the first place, staying in Washington and taking care of the people's business.

I works out great for him because he gets all of the positive publicity and doesn't have to answer all those impertinent questions about Libya.

Agreed. And the moment you see the Marxist back on the campaign trail is the moment his internal polls (from OH, IA, WI, VA, MI and PA) show his “presidential” post-Sandy posturing isn’t doing him any good.

Romney has no choice but to proceed guns a’blazin’. The Sandy story will fade from swing state view within 48 hours, and we’ll be back to the issues that matter long term. Romney needs to be ahead of this curve.

That is until they fill up their gas tanks again, or stop by the grocery store, or have to entertain a ridiculously low offer on the house they are trying to sell, or get told by one more real physician that they aren't taking on new patients at the time, or...

The people who write this stuff are just TDSFW. The world they live in is nothing like where most of us reside. Amazing.

Yes FL seems odd to me since more than a couple of services have said he has sewn it up there. Then again CO. / Nevada are the only swing States that haven’t been hit by bad weather. Personally I think those States are locked up. (CO for Romney) Logistics just might not be good to campaign in Ohio / Wisc.

Maybe Romney is making his close on FL with the intention of helping Mack out.

Ann Romney and Paul Ryan will be sitting in IA and WI for the next full day. Romney is supposedly coming here on Friday night. His close for WI.

I’d expect Saturday, Sunday, Mon, and Tuesday, barnstorming OH, PA, VA and MI (maybe a side trip to IA and MN last minute?) to try and close them out too?

I like the states that Romney is closing with a heck of a lot better than what Obama is looking at.

R/R need to get right back out there and ignore any cr#@ from the media. Get to the people and tell them this kind of disaster is just the reason this country must get the economy straight. Where is Obama getting all this money to help our people and our states? From China? More debt? Tie this disaster to the national debt and economy.

Romney should just keep spearheading recovery efforts. He should just start acting like a president and that will serve him and the victims well.
