Anyone else here concerned about the admittedly remote but apparently real possibility that the administration could use the hurricane as a pretext to declare a State of Emergency and postpone the elections?

Don't mean to minimize the damage (I live on the East Coast in the middle of Sandy's path) but it seems that the MSM is fixated on the hurricane as the single most disruptive event in our history. My concern is that the calculating current occupant of the WH, seeing his dwindling re-election chances, might take unprecedented steps that would "temporarily" postpone the elections.

And once that sacred threshold has been crossed, all bets are off as to what could follow. Amidst the chaos and the threat posed by "socially disruptive and possibly violent extremist factions" (such as Freepers), there will be calls for strong measures. What would prevent the institution of Martial Law?

One could easily imagine the MSM fully supporting such actions despite the lack of Constitutional authority, praising the President's leadership, assuring us that "present circumstances require decisive action," which is in fact being taken to "protect the democratic process."

Thoughts?

They didn't hype the storm to postpone elections, but they did hype the storm to sell more soap powder and sell their Hero who heals the nation while the other guy only tears it down. Just wove it into the narrative, that's all.

Thoughts? Yea, I have a thought. Who's quote is that, especially mentioning Freepers? If you don't have a citation then that makes the quote yours.
