Here's one more historical curiosity to observe this election cycle. Since election day was standardized in 1845 there have been 6 presidential elections held on November 6th and Republicans have won all six. That means next Tuesday, the 7th Presidential election held on this date, will either break or uphold a streak that began in 1860 with the election of Abraham Lincoln.

And it is my birthday and I want the best present I have had in my lifetime.
So What’s Breitbart trying to say? The Democrats are due? ;^)
I think the record is safe.
Every presidential election has involved some meaningless historic streak like this, which was then ended.
interesting factoid
definitely meaningless
If you want an interesting trend to ponder.
Almost No president elected in a year ending with 8 has won reelection in over 150 years.
The exceptions?
Nixon. Won 1968. Won 1972. Had to resign.
Grant. Won 1868. Won 1872 only because Reconstruction prevented the massive amounts of Democrats in the south from voting against him.
Taft, though, was blindsided by Roosevelt in 1908, and Benjamin Harrison never actually won a majority of the popular vote, so it's not so surprising that he wasn't reelected.
“This is big! This is really big!”
I can’t believe they wrote an article about this.
What is their record in elections held a week after a hurricane hits Jersey? THAT’S the important one!
It's my birthday too, and we are getting our puppy that day!!

Not to be a complete downer, but three of the six were shot.
Interesting link.
In Russia they’ve alternated between leaders who are bald or balding and those with fulls heads of hair going back to Tsar Nicholas I in 1825. Wikipedia says this is “most likely a coincidence”, lol.
We had an eerie thing where every President who was elected or reelected in a year ending in zero died in office. This lasted from 1840 until Reagan was shot but lived.
And there was a thing that if the Washington Redskins win their last home game before the election the incumbent party won the White House. This lasted until 2004 when the Skins lost but Bush won. I’m sure some democrats used this as evidence he stole the election! In 2008 the pattern reemerged.
The Skins host the 1-6 Carolina Panthers this Sunday.
