New Jersey Gas Lines Stretch For Miles And Miles
Business Insider ^ | 11/01/2012 | Dina Spector and Rob Wile

More than 1,000 New Jersey gas stations are unable to sell fuel due to power outages and delivery problems, according to the head of one of the state's gas station associations.

Sal Risalvato, executive director of the New Jersey Gasoline-Convenience-Automotive Association, which represents 1,500 stations, told us by phone that 75 percent of his members have shut down fueling.

"There's difficulty getting supply from the pipeline, to distribution centers, to the trucks, to the gas stations, and then the final hurdle, getting it into car. So there [are] difficulties along every point."

Many stations don't have power to pump gas. Those with power are pumping fuel until they run out. Although some refineries remain shut down, they still have fuel in storage. But trucks are having trouble making it to the stations because roads remain blocked by trees and flooding.

Additionally, there are more cars on the road since many bus and train lines remain suspended.

Risalvato said none of his clients are gouging.

"There's nobody rationing, when a retailer has gas, pumping until has no more."

Two separate people we talked to today, who otherwise have power, said that gasoline was their main concern, in part because it's fueling generators.

Someone should do a Carter / Obama check list

Background pic with Carter and Obama
Overlay with:

High unemployment - check
High gas prices - check
Burning embassy - check
Long gas lines - check

And finish with: Welcome back Carter

But aren’t they happy that they aren’t contributing to the global warming that caused the storm? (S)

Waiting in line for hours for something you can’t get.

These are the same people that want to call people living in the south stupid.

"Waiting in line for hours for something you can’t get."

That's what it was like in Old Russia. And now it has come to America under Obama.

People line up to fill gas containers at the New Jersey Turnpike's Thomas A. Edison service area Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, near Woodbridge, N.J. After Monday's storm surge from Sandy, many gas stations in the region are without power and those that are open have very long lines.

Gas lines over a mile long, with more than 150 cars, are now a common sight across the state. Waits are up to three hours.

Wow, they must drive some very big cars in New Jersey!

Each car is 35 feet long.

NEVER trust Obama and the democrats. The Republican governor will own this if the democrats, Obama and the MSM have anything to say about it.

Each car is 35 feet long.

Statistics fail. 35 is just the AVERAGE.

You have the small 25-footers, and the extra-pimpy 45-footers in the mix.

Did NJ Gov. Kristi Kreme unwittingly set up the Bam for an epic fail by stroking his egoist photo-op session? Those highly inconvenienced northeast residents can revel in their Barry to the rescue lovefest but the bloom is now in stank mode.

Classic panic demand spiral.

Don't like to see that.

Oops. Looks like quite a few folks spent big bucks on portable emergency generators, but failed to consider refueling needs. Like somebody I know, who found his emergency power supply strangled by a plastic one-gallon gas can. Won’t get too far on that, Butch.

Word to the wise: preppping aint just for crazy people who see black helicopters. Several members of my family in the NY metro area are without power and will be so for another 4-7 days. They also have to wait hours in line for either gas or to buy food. Also, most places cannot process credit cards (no atms work either). So, cash is king. My dad and uncle have generators. They’re among the few in the area who still have power.
