A president has essentially no role to play in hurricane relief. He can show up for a photo-op but otherwise its the mayors and governors who run the show.
Thats the way our system is designed.
I agree. I think back on Bush, when he visited the 09/11/2001 site. He was grim. His actions were presidential and geared toward encouraging the nation.
Mitt Romney’s statement about Hurricane Sandy the other day lasted about 4.5 minutes. Obama’s lasted about 11 minutes.
Romney encouraged participation in philanthropic outreach, and uplifting everyone.
Obama spent 11 minutes listing all the things he was going to do. After a while he was just repeating himself, and those standing nearby looked somewhat disinterested.
With Obama, it’s all about him.
With Romney, it seemed to be about others.
While Obama was talking, nobody was able to do anything.
While Mitt talked, people were still turning in donations.
I’ve not been a big fan of Romney, but the more I see of him, he’s head and shoulders better than Obama. Mentally, he reveals Obama to be a child. I’d say about a nine year old child. ;^)
