Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz Endorses Barack Obama

Nov. 1, 2012, 4:38 PM

Following in the footsteps of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced on CNBC Thursday that he is endorsing President Barack Obama for re-election.

Schultz's endorsement is surprising, given his vocal abstinence from politics this election cycle. In August 2011, Schultz called for a halt on campaign donations until both parties found common ground on the country's long-term fiscal issues.

Lousy overcooked coffee beans, and a beanhead running the store.

Hey Schultz FU! Oh and your coffee tastes like crap! At least that’s what I remember from when I last bought it about 10 years ago!

Well if I drank starbucks coffee I’d stop but if I drank 4 buck a cup coffee I would still have a mortgage. I’ll stick with the large coffee at McDonalds for a buck thing.

Who benefits more from increased numbers of people who sit on their ass all day and do nothing but drink coffee and surf the internets?

Big Whoop.

Are there any Cons who actually drink that overpriced, foo-foo, "cafe?"

Personally, I've never stepped foot in one and have no desire to, but now that I know who the CEO supports, it would be a cold day in hell before I did even if someone else was treating.

Agreed that it is bullcrap to call the move “surprising.” 99% of this guy’s reportable political donations have gone to Democrats.

I despise their coffee and I would occasionally stop by for their blackened tea. No more! Boycott ON!

This guys is despised by many in the Northwest. He was the majority owner in the Seattle Sonics which he ran into the ground with poor hiring and bad personnel decisions. He sold the franchise to an investor from Oklahoma who was open in his desire to move the NBA franchise to Oklahoma City. The Sonics franchise now resides in Oklahoma as the Thunder. Most people I know avoid Starbucks unless no other options are available. If Howard Schultz endorses a product or candidate, it is a net negative in this area. They guy is a tool.

How can Starbucks’ CEO say Zero’s “stewardship of the economy” is why he has supported Zero and will again support him next Tuesday in the election? Did Starbucks get a WAIVER on Obamacare? Did Starbucks get a waiver on annnouncing layoffs of employees? Does Starbucks understand that many of their patrons can no longer afford a $3.50 pumpkin latte with smaller take-home pay in households across this country. Does Starbucks realize that small-business owners are being ‘investigated/harassed’ for informing their employees that the cost of healthcare under Obamacare will rise to the point of forcing owners to choose between keeping/hiring employees or dropping private health insurance?

Shouldn’t Bloomberg be castigating Schultz for the fatty high calorie starbucks lattes anyway? It is nothing but a gathering place these days for the unemployed 16%.
