Akin did plenty wrong. He made an indefensible statement, killed Romney momentum, and refused to easily correct his error by stepping aside.

There are plenty of conservative candidates to replace Akin, but his oversized ego and poor judgement has put control of the US Senate at risk.

Any substitute candidate could easily beat the democrat crook. And any substitute candidate would have united the party behind them.

But no, AKIN put himself as more important than any of that.

In case you don't know, you are treading on thin ice with your comment. This is a positive thread for Todd Akin. You have always hijacked these type of threads by constantly attacking those FReepers who believe in expressing their CONVERSATIVE view points. Why should Akin have stepped aside so the establishment could select the candidate they wanted? it would not have been Brunner or Steelman but someone that was not even on the ballot. The voters in MO elected Akin to run against McCaskill and if he had filed the paperwork to withdraw it would have cost him over 200,000 dollars not to mention it would have disenfranchised some military absentee ballots. We followed the process and we have a good conservative candidate running against a full blown liberal. The choice is clear and easy.
