Do voters in 2012 face a choice between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush? That's how President Barack Obama, returning to the campaign trail with gusto after a break to respond to Sandy, cast the election during a final push in the battleground state of Wisconsin. He also looked to harness the bipartisan truce fostered by the devastating superstorm.
"We know the ideas that work. We also know the ideas that don't work, because in the eight years after Bill Clinton left office, his policies were reversed," Obama told about 2,600 people in Green Bay, Wis. Obama pointed to Bush's tax cuts that chiefly benefited the wealthiest Americans and charged that his Republican predecessor had given "free license" to the rich and corporations to "play by a different set of rules" than middle-class Americans.
The result was sluggish job growth, he said, and "an economic crisis that we've been cleaning up for the last four years." (The White House has struggled to draw a strong connection between Bush's tax cuts and the global financial meltdown of 2007-2008. Bush inherited an economy that was spinning down after the high-tech bubble burst and suffering from the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist strikes.)
"In the closing weeks of this campaign, Gov. Romney has been using all his talents as a salesman to dress up these very same policies that failed our country so badlythe very same policies we've been clearing up after for the past four years," Obama continued. "And he's offering them up as change. He's saying he's the candidate of change.
"What the governor is offering sure ain't change," the president quipped.

Sure doesn’t sound like a confident candidate.
He says the election is about Clinton and not about himself?
Wow. How pathetic.
With the help of the press, it may be working. Every day we hear about Obama being ahead in some critical state. Earlier in the week it was FL and OH. Then WI and PA. Now VA and IA. While that doesn’t mean much for those on FR, we do not represent the undecided voters.
As opposed to Reagan vs Carter.
Well, that’s mighty white of him. I’m going to characterize it as Reagan vs. Carter.
See ya next Wednesday, Barry.
No Barry, it’s about you and Mitt Romney ... a contest you come up short in.
Bronco Bama says, "Oh, $4!t, I forgot about that one. I was stoned that year."
I am going to go a step further and categorize it as Chavez vs most of Venezuela.
BUT I THOUGHT he had the BIG MO after crispy kremes and Sandy...
And we say it’s Reagan vs Carter.
Actually, Bush and Clinton had mostly the same policies. After the GOP house takeover, Clinton was a center right president He reformed welfare, lowered taxes and talked about the end of big government. Both were supportive of the housing boom promoting home ownership.
Obama is the exact opposite of Clinton. Obama actually continued the worst of Bush’s policies...spending, government expansion, etc.
Obama is so gone. Romney is drawing roaring crowds in the tens of thousands wherever he goes. Talk about the Chick-fil-A election!
Where do you get your news? Early voting shows Romney up 52-45. Turn off your tv until 7:30 on Tuesday. They will reveal the final poll.
Bush was a good man and I think Romney is too. Obama makes Clinton seen like a good man.
I WISH DUBYA HAD SWEPT CLEAN WITH HIS NEW BROOM!!!
Wow, he was able to get 2600 to show up in Green Bay? What a master of crowds....
This is such a shadow of 2008 it isn’t funny.
Give it up Bambi...Americans know by now you’re a phony.
