BOULDER, Colo. – Voters in Colorado tonight got a glimpse of the Barack Obama of 2008, with his soaring, impassioned and relentless rhetoric that electrified a crowd in a way only rarely seen during the 2012 campaign.
Sharpening his closing argument for a second term, Obama delivered a forceful defense of his mantra of “change”.
“You may not agree with every decision that I’ve made, you may be frustrated at the rate of change,” he told the diverse crowd of 10,000 inside a campus basketball arena. But, “I know what real change looks like, because I fought for it,” he added. “I’ve got the scars to prove it. I’ve got the gray hair to show for it.”

Remember - Boulder, Colorado is the San Francisco of Colorado - its Deep Blue, ultra-liberal and an overwhelmingly Democratic bastion.
Its not swing voter country. And there is only one reason to go there before the election weekend. To firm up your base!

Yes they were pumping his figures last time, but there is no question that 10 000 is much less than 100 000 - and in his “base district” as well.
No, there is really only two reasons to make a rally like that less than a week out from the election. Either you have such a commanding lead that you can afford to take “time off”, or there is an overwhelming need to shore up your base to avoid a white wash.
I know what I think is most likely. Probably the same as you.
The point is O isn’t going after anyone he can persuade to give him a second chance.
My guess - same as yours - is he know he’ll get all the votes he has and not more.
This is a guy every reputable poll shows sitting at 47%. Its over.
He seems to do pretty well talking to stupid college kids and union idiots, but he studiously ignores grown-ups in the real world.
