According to the newly released timeline from the CIA there was a 5 hour break between the rescue of the consulate and the mortar attack on the annex. Since the CIA was rushing personnel to the annex to assist in a total evacuation, I don’t understand why they didn’t get some air cover over the annex to protect the exfil from the annex to the airport.
