That second African-American woman said, “The mayor should have been here, the Governor should have been here...”

Funny, when it was Katrina - which was far worse and killed hundreds, it was not the Governor nor Mayor’s fault, but Bush’s fault.

Nobody mentions Obama...
Is it because they are black and he is black, or because of party affiliation?

The rest of the country knows what to do in situations like this. Apparently some NYC residents do not...............

Pool/Jacuzzi/River Water + Bucket + Toilet = ability to flush.

You assume on the part of some: (a) a sense of personal responsibility; (b) the ability and willingness to plan for contingencies; (c) a decent respect for one's self and for the rights and well-being of others.

Welcome to the "New Normal" in Obamaville.

Am I being too harsh? Look, I have empathy for those who are suffering in the mid-Atlantic. Some of them are friends and family - but because of their values, they quickly organized and are taking care of (and in some cases, living with) each other right now, not waiting for the government to act. I imagine many others have done the same.

We lose power several times a year. For that reason, my family and I store 1 1/2 gallon jugs of water for toilet flushing; 1 gallon jugs for hand-washing, and several pallets of bottled water for drinking. Millions of other Americans have similar plans, and they don't all live out in the country (like me), either. But it sure seems to help.

Flush, yes, but if the sewage treatment plant is off line then it has nowhere to go...........

Some folks are problem solvers.

Some folks are the problem.

Years ago, I went to an Indian gathering where several tribes were present. They were so breathtaking and in my young naiveté, I blurted out, “What beautiful costumes!” A Native American, seated nearby, very kindly informed me that they were not wearing costumes as costumes made people think you were something that you are not but regalia merely enhanced who you are and they, indeed, were in their regalia.

That CiC flight jacket is BO’s costume.

Alternative #1

1. Poop in toilet.
2. Get bucket of water. Any water. Even seawater or dirty floodwater.
3. Pour water into toilet.
4. Flush.

Alternative #2

1. Poop on newspaper (NYT works best).
2. Carefully fold newpaper over poop and insert in trash bag.

Alternative #3

1. Poop in public hallway.
2. Take videos on your free Obamaphone and post on Facebook.

The toilet in TheGirls apartment does not have a tank, so for those in her building your plan would not help.

However . . . I do not think those in her building are so low class that they would crap in a hallway.

Evacuate the buildings, by force if necessary. Not just for public health reasons, but with the sprinklers dead, these places are fire-traps.

This is the kind of disaster discussed when Y2K was on the horizon. Tall buildings require electrically powered water pumps to drive water from ground level to upper floors. Electrically driven HVAC is required to move fresh air in/out of the building as well. Absent electricity, a tall building becomes uninhabitable. No water. Stale air. No toilets.

Burying waste when faced with asphalt street and concrete sidewalks is not particularly viable in a city setting. The area is uninhabitable without electricity.

A proper field expedient toilet for situations like this where you can’t simply flush it away, and provides a sanitary situation for emergencies, is a 5 gallon plastic bucket with a tight fitting lid and a bag of lime. The other part of the equation are people with enough intelligence to actually use it.

I could care less what happens to these people let their dear leader Obama help them out because remember Republicans hate them and want them to die and drink dirty water so why should I care what happens to them when I will only be demonized as a non caring conservative.

Katrina: "Where's Bush?"
Sandy:    "Where's the governor?
                    Where's the mayor?"
