Big Mo: Ryan to MINNESOTA on Sunday
Big Government.com ^ | 2 Nov 2012, 6:56 PDT | by Mike Flynn

This morning, the Romney campaign announced that Paul Ryan would go to Minnesota on Sunday for a pre-election campaign rally. Its a clear sign that the Romney campaign thinks Minnesota is winnable. Where campaigns spend their time in the closing days of a race says much more about their view of the election than words repeated by campaign flacks. Candidates' time is a campaign's most precious resource, and it is deployed only if it's needed or can have an impact. You don't waste a candidate's time on a bluff in the final 48 hours.

Last night, the campaign announced that Mitt Romney would go to Philadelphia on Sunday for a campaign rally. It is telling that both Romney and Ryan are spending some of the campaign's final hours in a bid for states that haven't voted GOP for president in decades.

The Obama campaign has dismissed this as a sign the Romney campaign is "flailing." Yet, they have matched the GOP ads buys in the state and have dispatched Biden and Clinton to Pennsylvania and Minnesota. They have to be at least somewhat concerned that Romney could steal these states from them if they don't respond. That's a tell. So to that end, Obama will spend this weekend doing at least five events in Wisconsin and Iowa, two states he won by double-digits in 2008.

Remember, in the closing days of the 2008, Obama devoted lots of time to states that had traditionally voted Republican. That wasn't a campaign "flailing", but rather one riding a wave of momentum and deep dissatisfaction with the Bush Administration.

We'll know Tuesday if Romney will be able to repeat history.

The Romney Campaign is riding the “wave” just like Obama did in 2008.

Its poaching traditionally Democratic states for votes. You don’t do that if you don’t think you’ll win. PA and MN would be sweet pickups.

The Romney Campaign’s internal polls must very good for them to feel they have shot of winning those states. And they think they can definitely win them!

“So is anybody still going to North Carolina or Florida still?”

Just saw that Sandra Fluke was in FL talking to 40 college students.

The truth the media isn’t willing to tell is Obama gave up on NC weeks ago, and is only putting up the smallest appearance that he hasn’t given up on FL and VA.

I don’t think so, and as far as I know yesterday was the Romney campaign’s last day in VA. That tells me they think FL, NC and VA are safe.

Outstanding!

So Florida, Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Colorado, Nevada and Michigan are in the bag, and so is every other damn state that’s more marginal or necessary than Minnesota!

Who the hell is running this campaign?

What idiot believes that this is 1984 all over again, and THIS time we’re going to get all 50 states, which is obviously the only reason to waste one breath of air in the People’s Republic of Minnesota when all those others could tip either way — because Minnesota is the one state we didn’t get in ‘84!!!!

I sure hope they send Ryan to California or New York next, because R/R just might be a tiny bit behind there and we certainly can’t risk losing them.

Who needs Ohio?

A couple of hours ago I received a call inviting me to a Ryan rally in Youngstown Monday evening. Probably the last one.

The Romney internals show the state can be picked up! Its in play.

If they didn’t think it was winnable, they wouldn’t send Ryan there. I expect a huge crowd to meet him.

You pessimists are the worst and look at everything in a negative light. Chill! The Romney Campaign is executing its game plan.

And they’re in it to win!

Sheesh your post #8 is a freak out!

One trip by the VP candidate to MN and you assume they are ignoring Ohio? Sheesh they are having a HUGE rally in OH tonight!

Romney knows what he is doing, period. You don’t know what he is doing.

I love it! Do you know the idiots who will actually vote against Obama just to see if Axelrod shaves his mustache?

Jay Severin just said that he believes Romney will win, and win big. Pollsters, including Rasmussen, will be shocked. He goes on to say that people won't be up too late waiting for results on Tuesday night.

Hope you have that razor handy, Axelknob...

I don’t believe Romney is bluffing ala Rove in 2000.

I believe they think they have a chance at a good-sized victory.

Obviously that doesn’t make it true. They might be wrong.

But...

THEY MIGHT ALSO BE RIGHT!

GO MITT!

I sure hope you are right, and I mean no offense but blind optimism — either on the part of posters here or those “geniuses” who run campaigns — is no substitute for some reality.

The reality is that it cannot possibly be even the slightest bit true that all the states R/R *need* to win are locked up so securely that they can fritter away any time or money on a totally irrelevant state like Minnesota.

I hope that a few days from now we are all saying “President-elect Romney’s campaign guys sure were smart — who knew we could win Minnesota and get to 350 electoral votes!”

Instead it’s way more likely that we’ll be saying “What were those idiots smoking? We still lost MN by 5 points and one appearance by Ryan in Virginia or Ohio might have helped us win there, instead of losing by one point. And now we’re stuck with 4 more years of disaster.”

The only reason we didn’t get MN in 1984 is that Mondale was from there.

If you want confirmation of Romney’s strategy, look at his opponent’s schedule. Don’t look at where 0bama is going, look where he is not: VA, FL, NC.

The Romney Campaign is confident they have FL, NC and VA secured.

Now they’re looking to go on the offensive against the enemy, in his own territory. I’d love to do to Obama what Obama did to IN, VA and NC in 2008.

Payback will be sweet! There is no reason to concede Obama anything! He needs to be finished off. And as Gen. Patton famously said: “Americans are not quitters. They like winners. Its our national sport.”

And like Col. Hannibal said on The “A Team”: “I love it when a plan comes together.”

We got a great plan here and its time to carry it out and make sure O goes down!
