Claims Increase Of Machines Switching Votes In Ohio, Other Battlegrounds By Eric Shawn November 02, 2012

Imagine going to vote for your presidential candidate and pushing the button on a touch-screen voting machine -- but the "X" marks his opponent instead.

That is what some voters in Nevada, North Carolina, Texas and Ohio have reported.

Fox News has received several complaints from voters who say they voted on touch-screen voting machines -- only when they tried to select Mitt Romney, the machine indicated they had chosen President Obama.

The voters in question realized the error and were able to cast ballots for their actual choice.

"I don't know if it happened to anybody else or not, but this is the first time in all the years that we voted that this has ever happened to me," said Marion, Ohio, voter Joan Stevens.

Stevens said that when she voted, it took her three tries before the machine accepted her choice to vote for Romney.

"I went to vote and I got right in the middle of Romney's name," Stevens told Fox News, saying that she was certain to put her finger directly on her choice for the White House.

She said that the first time she pushed "Romney," the machine marked "Obama."

... and sometimes when I press “R” on my iPhone, “T” shows up. Don't drag the finger, the screen won't change.

Why do the write “the voters in question?”

Aren’t the machines the entities in question?

Time to bring back paper ballots.

We still use them here in our rural county in California.

We need to use optically scanned ballots. They give the speed of computerized tabulation with a paper trail for manual recounts.

Your Iphone has a 21 inch touch screen with discrete blocks of addressing and no dragging capability?

We need to go back to the old “pull the lever” type system. Less likely to be rigged.

User error. People need to learn how to use the touch screens. Period.

Back in the Carter years, those very machines were discovered to be *pre-loaded* w/Carter votes.

The touchscreens tell you what it has recorded and you can go back and change. It also has a confirmation screen and the ones we use have a scrolling paper record on the left hand side that can also be checked.

I think every type of process can be subverted. Bags of ballots were *found* back in Chicago and in Texas for JFK and LBJ, IIRC.

It could just be Obama voters have greasy fingers. Their fried chicken fingerprints are leaving a capacitive charge on the touch screens that is altering other people’s votes. Another possibility is a communist nation with sufficient technical resources such as China or Russia has hacked the machines to be pro-communist, although that’s a bad hack job if it doesn’t hide the switch.

A program can be programmed to say or do anything.

Just because it *says* O or R, on screen or anywhere else - doesnt mean a thing.

So ask to see the actual programming code - they’ll tell you it is confidential. sure

This situation is most often a clear case of normal and expected ESO anomalies.(Equipment Superior to Operator)
The hot-fix is a printed backup copy/receipt of all electronic votes, for possible manual recounts.

The solution is manual markings on paper ballots, skipping the touch screen/punch screen machines altogether.
Oh and semi-permanent purple ink on index fingers wouldn't hurt....
