Matt Romney, whose father Mitt has called Russia the number one geopolitical foe of the United States during his presidential campaign, reportedly offered the Kremlin reassuring messages during a business trip to Moscow, the New York Times Peter Baker reports.
But while in Moscow, [Matt] Romney told a Russian known to be able to deliver messages to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin that despite the campaign rhetoric, his father wants good relations if he becomes president, according to a person informed about the conversation...

So because of a 3rd hand report of a story told to a NYT reporter, and repeated by WaPo, you make such an asinine statement? What is your alternative - stay home, or vote for Obama?
I think that there’s a big difference between wanting to have good relations and wanting to sell out the country at the first convienient opportunity.
You must be really easy to fool.
For me, the suggestion that Romney is flexible and realistic in his foreign policy is a big plus. The American public and economy has had its fill of confrontation and strife.
I don’t think Mitt would want to have bad relations with Putin but I feel Mitt will have America’s best interest in his heart unlike who we now have in the White House.
Why not take your anti-Mitt/Pro Obummer, propaganda and negative vibes over to where you will be welcomed and appreciated such as DummyUnderground, DailyKossakKids or HuffandPuffPost?
I think maybe you should read further before telling old timers to go to the DUmp.
Do you think he will give them a “Reset Button” like Old Bag Clinton did?
If he does maybe he will get it translated right unlike the old bag did.
The US has picked a lot worse nations to be “friends” with. At least Russia is a Christian nation that doesn’t apologize for itself.
Mitt wasn’t my first choice, but the alternative is an Obama who once struck a vital blow for partial birth abortion in Illinois and a Biden who is ready to go to war for transgender rights.
You must work very hard to find something bad about Mitt - are you sure you’re not a Democrat who’s lost his way?
There is nothing bad about seeking good relations with Russia. And as long as America’s good is kept in mind, flexibility is something that should not be deferred until a second term as with Obama. Russia is not our “friend” to be sure, but for the realist, friendship is overrated. In international relations national self-interest should be the motivator and the US and Russia have enough common interests where a non-confrontational relationship is both possible and beneficial.
The conservatives still fighting the Spanish American War will not tolerate a positive word about the much more recent Cold War. They will flame you
Their knee jerks before the possible thought that Romney can have better relations simply because he can be trusted. The knee jerk prevents seeing common interests that can be beneficial. The knee jerk prevents remembering President Reagan.....trust but verify.
And the quote in post number six in this thread also suggests that Reagan was a realist. Realism and sober self-interest is something long overdue in our policy.
