PALATKA — Hundreds of people rallied in front of a funeral home Sunday morning after reports circulated that a group planned to disrupt the services for a local woman who was serving in the U.S. Army and was described as an “all-American girl.”
Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., sent out a news release Friday saying they would be preaching in front of Masters Funeral Home in Palatka as part of their ongoing campaign against homosexuality. They said military funerals “have become pagan orgies of idolatrous blasphemy, where they pray to the dunghill gods of Sodom & play taps to a fallen fool.”

Funny how they’ve never shown up at soldiers’ funerals in Harlem, Detroit, East LA, or any neighborhood that has an MLK Blvd. running through it. And considering their intense hatrd of homosexuals, they sure as heck obsess about them a lot. Methinks they protest too much. Given that their freinds of the Alfore, wouldn’t surprise me if they’re a bunch of dem operatives acting like “Christian extremists”, a false flag operation. Especially since they were conspicuously silent when 0 announced his support of gay marriage. I would’ve thought they’d load the van with their G-d hates fags signs and high-tail it to DC faster than Jeff Gordon on steroids.
Just a few years ago conservatives would never think of public demonstrations. This is a very positive change.
I have heard it suggested that their real agenda is far more worldly and cynical than their outward appearance would show, and that what they want is to be able to sue the police for $100,000s for failing to protect them when a mourner or two gives them a well-deserved battering...
The police in Palatka can’t be held responsible if some stupid tourist falls in a creek full of gators.
Westboro Baptist Church was created by a Democrat Party Leader, with an agenda to make Christians look bad.
I've long thought that that's what they were. Notice they focus on military funerals to protest homosexuality, but never seem to be seen at "gay pride" events or at the funerals of actual homosexuals.
They seem to be in the business of being very annoying, so they can sue the municipality if they are inadequately protected from the people they annoy.
