Widows in biblical times often faced a life of poverty. Thats the situation Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi, were in after each woman lost her husband. But God had a plan to provide security for them while involving Ruth as an integral part of a much bigger plan.
Boaz, a wealthy landowner, knew of and admired Ruth (Ruth 2:5-12), but he was surprised when he awoke one night to see her lying at his feet (3:8). She asked him to spread the corner of his garment over her to indicate that as a close relative he was willing to be her kinsman-redeemer (v.9 NIV). This was more than a request for protection; she was requesting marriage. Boaz agreed to marry her (vv.11-13; 4:13).
Not exactly your typical romantic tale. But Ruths choice to follow Naomis instructions (3:3-6) set up a series of events that placed her in Gods plan of redemption! From Ruths marriage to Boaz came a son (Obed), the eventual grandfather of King David (4:17). Generations later, Joseph was born to the family, and he became the legal father of Marys child (Matt. 1:16-17; Luke 2:4-5)our Kinsman-Redeemer, Jesus.
Ruth trusted God and followed Naomis instructions even though the ending was uncertain. We too can count on God to provide for us when life is unsure.

So go VOTE the Traitor and his Criminals OUT.
I am SO mad!!! I found out from my son that he doesn't get to vote tomorrow because "They never sent my voter package". He is in the Air Force and has been denied his voice in the election!!! That is WRONG!! Our military, of all people, should get to share in this privilege! |
Evening AZ, Kathy. Tomorrow I’m praying pretty hard.

Voted early this morning (about 7am or so). I won't say it was packed but there were lines. Part of the problem was the new scanning machines. They've been in use for a couple of years, but I think that this is the first presidential election that they are in use.
Voting in the morning used to be a breeze. I was number three from my Electoral District, but the tables next to me were busy. I used to have my own machine, but now I had to join the crowd. But it wasn't bad, at least getting to the little shaded kiosks to bubble in the ballots. (And who was going to complain when that nice large man in the camo fatigues was three people up in line from me?)
The problem was the ballot readers. There were four scanning machines, and they were having problems with one of them. Okay, fine, have someone look at it. Some ONE. Not everyONE. Hello? We're in line here. It was a few minutes, but now a big deal.
