My wife's cousin in Ocala Florida is pretty active (study group leader, retreat organizer) with independent Evangelicals and has reported the Romney was considered toxic by a number of the people she worshiped with. The LDS are considered a ‘false church created by a false prophet’. Voting for a LDS was considered by a number of these people as a ‘mortal sin’ that would put their soul's in danger of hell fire. She considers such attitudes foolish and self defeating but has encountered them since Romney appeared on the Florida scene. The line that somebodies have been propagating is ‘better to lose the country than your soul’. Anyone else encountered this sort of a counter campaign?

One church in our area was teaching something similar. Didn’t think the Mormonism would be that big a deal in comparison to Islam.
