It was too late for Romney, though. He had already taken a hard line stance to win the primary debate with Perry, attacking him mercilessly along with Michelle Bachman. He launched another barrage against Newt Gingrich on the same subject. Neither Romney nor Bachman was experienced in winning the Hispanic vote.

And the Axelrod Full-Bore Campaign machine would have chewed up and spit out Bachmann, Perry, Santorum and even Gingrich ten times faster than the Romney Primary machine did.

xzins, YOU are wrong. Viennacon is correct.

There are 58 million Americans who hate America. Insurmountable at this point.

Reagan would have been beat yesterday, too.

Young voters, Hispanic voters, black voters, and single women voters are larger segments of the electorate now, and they all vote against us.

***The reason why 0bama won that bloc is because he’s black. Bush & Kerry divided the bloc with a nod to Bush because he spoke spanish. Obama wins it because he’s ‘cool’, black, and an underrepresented minority.

Am I being defeatist? All I can say is that the Founding Fathers understood that democracy is a death spiral. Once the property requirement was removed from the franchise, ambitious politicians began buying indigent votes with other people's money. Reagan's failure to dismantle the Education Department one year into its existence shows that the death spiral doesn't stop even for the nimblest of politicians. Ultimately, we, the people, have pointed a pistol at our collective head. Every program the Dems gin up gets us in deeper. I just want to stand athwart history, yelling stop. Unfortunately, it just keeps hurtling into the abyss.

Great analysis. I don't think you are being defeatist. Merely realistic. Sad to say, the *only* thing that I think could save this country is for the inevitable economic collapse to be sudden, rather than gradual.

Don’t blame Romney. Blame our population. We could have trotted 10 Reagans out there and they’d all have lost. Americans don’t want whole conservatism or half conservatism. They want communism.

Now it's time for the GOP-E (and the country) to reap the whirlwind.

Mia Love, Allen West, Akin, Rehberg, Berg and Mourdock were Tea Party candidates. They lost in both swing and red states. I think we're reaping the whirlwind for running candidates that were too conservative for their districts or states.

In some respects I think the GOP-E wanted it to turn out this way. The economy is going to collapse before 2016. It’s not going to be pretty.

The Founders didn’t put a right to vote in the Constitution for a REASON

Deficits of over a TRILLION dollars a year, stagnant wages, assaults on religion and the private sector, nationalization of the healthcare industry, and yet the demented communist in the White House still has the vote of 48-50% of the US population and wins reelection

What that means is that this Republic will fall, but not before the Washingtonians rob every last dime from working Americans

The Republican Party is nothing more than a bunch of degenerate blue blood banker country clubbers who waged war against the sons of the Founders in 1861 and murdered the Republic via imposition of Universal Suffrage via Constitutional Amendment.

They have since conspired with the communist faction of their fellow Washingtonians to make slaves of the working man outside of DC, under penalty of imprisonment via the IRS and the DOJ.

The Washingtonians have got it figured out, and basically fight every 4 years over control of the cash extorted from the working class.

The RNC and their greedy pulled back wives aren’t much different than the DNC commies, it’s all a scam.

Get out before they put up a wall to keep you in.

“he couldn’t undo the Soros vote rigging machines and the other fraud....”

I actually believe that’s the reason. We knew about some cheating, but I figure that’s only about 1% of what actually happened. As long as the GOP rolls over, this will never change.

If you think Romney was the wrong man please tell us who the right man (or woman) was. Who was the candidate who could have convinced America it was time to take their medicine?

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think Reagan could of won against this electorate. The electorate has changed and I fear that we’re in for a rude awakening in some form or another (economic, militarily, etc.) Maybe that’s what it is going to take. Basically, there is more of them then there are of us!

I REFUSE to compromise the basic principles of the party by the amount we would have to so that we can “snare” these voters.

Why would you have to. Conservatism is an idea - a philosophy, not a race or ethnic group.

Allen West is a conservative, Sara Palin...etc.

Educating the people is what is needed.

Like Rush Limbaugh says: "conservatism wins everytime it's tried".

It was not tried in 2012 or in 2008.

Mitt Romney is no conservative.

What is possible in red states

The GOP can start with not calling itself "Red"

The GOP needs to die.

The parasites now outnumber the producers - that’s the bottom line. God has given us over just as Paul warned. I’m now convinced the preppers are right. Better stock up on guns, food and ammo. And get right with the Lord.

I agree with you - Romney was a good candidate. The problem is that he didn’t simply run against Obama - he ran against the media. If I learned anything from this election it was to send a check to Free Republic, support Rush Limbaugh, etc. We can’t win elections without first managing to overcome the corrupt media machine.

It's a given that Republicans always run against the media. I think Romney's problem was his lack of a ground game. He relied too much on ad blitzes. Rove's genius was his unprecedented ground game - his lavish GOTV efforts to get people to the polls helped avert what might have been Gore or Kerry victories. With the amount of money Romney had, he should have been able to replicate Rove's ground game. Unfortunately, he went almost 100% with ad blitzes, relying on volunteers for his GOTV effort instead of hiring full-timers.

“Let me get this straight. Akin and Mourdock, two Tea Party candidates, can’t even win in Missouri and Indiana, both of which went for Romney by 10% margins, but you think a conservative Akin- or Mourdock-type candidate could have won the presidency. While I wish that were true, I’m gonna bow to recent experience and say it’s unlikely. “

Nowhere in the ‘conservative handbook’ does it say that you have to talk about rape in dumb ways. You can be pro-life without making it about personal theology.

Romney lost because we failed to turn out the vote. Evamgelicals, it seems, would rather have a left wing president who supports abortion and gay marriage, than vote for a morman. Self proclaimed tru conservative, like many onFR, would rather have Obama than vote for that RINO Romney. We get the government we deserve. Toall those who voted their conscience and went third party in VA and FL, congratulate yourselves on Obama’s reelection. You held true to your principals! Good for you!

It is very easy today to say that one knew that Romney would lose. However, I posted on August 29: Mark this date, August 29,2012 and this statement: “The GOP has no intention of beating 0bambi and Romney will find a way to throw the election.”

http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/post?id=2924247,10

That moment came in the third debate when Romney began agreeing with the Communist. Yet, Conservatives gambled everything on one roll of the dice with Romney. They worked their tails off; they massed for rallies and they got out the vote.

Romney was expected to win and win big. States that were thought untouchable (PA, WI, MI) were “in play”. The coattails would be big and we'd take back the Senate. We know today that it was all a myth. This election was just another “heads you win, tails I lose” for Conservatives.

Now the recriminations start. It is Conservatives fault that Romney lost; we're too radical. GOP needs to keep losing with RINOs; already Jeb Bush is being talked about as the likely nominee in 2016.

Please fellow Conservatives, get it through your heads: THERE IS NO PLACE FOR US IN THE GOP. When Allen West is redistricted out of a seat (by Republicans) and a seat created for Allan Grayson, it's all over. The Republicrats and the Democans are THE one political party running America today.

Me, I'm leaving the Republican Party. It doesn't exist in DE anyway. Whigs, meet your modern counterparts.

Agreed. This slide into Socialism is exactly why the framers restricted the vote to property owners.
