SACRAMENTO – Not long ago, I made a case for staying in California, arguing that there's nothing wrong here that isn't fixable.
California, blessed by magnificent and varied geography, mild weather and an "anything's possible" culture, suffers mainly from a political process controlled by public-sector union advocates hell-bent on protecting their power and privilege, no matter what that means for the state's finances and public services.
While affirming this "we should stand our ground" point of view, I've found little to be hopeful about in the current political season, with polls showing Gov. Jerry Brown's tax-increase plan (Proposition 30) holding a solid lead, an initiative that would chip away at union power (Prop. 32) failing, and President Barack Obama holding a 24-point lead in California. These three examples are not surprising, but they do suggest how far we are from the paradigm shift needed to get California back on a better track.
The most troubling thing I've seen is the delusion embraced by the state's dominant Democrats, who really seem to believe that California is only one massive tax increase away from being fixed.
"Maybe I know too much about this stuff, but we're in a recovery, a slow recovery, and it'll keep recovering with any luck," Gov. Jerry Brown said in early September. "And if the Republicans would get out of the way and let, you know, the stimulus and the investment go forward, such as the Democrats have proposed, we'll be better off."

Obama will try and force the rest of America to bail out California.
Republicans in the House need to stay strong and not allow that to happen.
I was boren here, lived most of my adult life here but this last election in the straw that broke... I am putting my house up and headed to a red state .. very depressed
All that is needed is for some State like Texas to announce they are seriously starting the process of secession and good people will flock to them in droves and away from cesspools like CA. Heck after last night’s results I told the wife if Texas announced today, I’d be packing cardboard boxes tomorrow.
I read a fascinating article on CA in Salon today.
Basically, it said the state was in dire shape but now that the house and senate have gone democrat in a overbearing way, finally all those problems the republicans have caused will end and utopia will begin.
You see, all CA’s problems have come from the handful of Republicans. Somehow they did this. I don’t know how people get so delusional.

I did. We sold our house in Florida and moved to Tennessee. Love it here.
Left in ‘04 after 20 years, and never looked back.
We left five years ago since it was not a good place to raise children. Too many homos and it was all supposed to be OK.
Even for homeschoolers... The other kids that ours interacted with were all brainwashed drones.
Now California can tax Hollywood the way Hollywood wants to be taxed. I always hear Hollywood stars, directors, producers, etc. complain about not paying enough taxes. Now they can do just that. Watch them all leave California if they don’t already have their money elsewhere. Also, California should tax political fundraisers and take 20% off the top.
Running out of places to move I’m afraid.
As a former sunny socal girl, now masshole, I am with you. We liquidated today, my home is on the market as of this AM. I am thinking BVI or Costa Rica. I just want out.
Folks that dismiss California because they think it could never happen in their state, are in for a rude awakening. And if California could disappear tomorrow, those states would still go upside down.
The federal government and it’s policies have destroyed this nation. It’s dead. It just hasn’t fallen over yet.

Funny thing is that since the Democrats have no obstruction from the Republicans at this point, anything that goes wrong will still be blamed on the Republicans - either in the past, or in other states.
Us too..... we have 14 months 14 day and 6 hrs. and then we are free. We will sell our house and get out of here. Still trying to decide where to go.

Texas is NOT the place to go. I escaped to Texas 10 years ago and it’s turning into a liberal sh@thole. It’ll turn into a blue state within 10-15 years.
I’m aggressively looking at relocating to a solid red state. Utah, Wyoming, the Dakotas and Idaho look promising.
Crime has gone up exponentially, the libs have been moving in, delaing with water rationing, I’ve HAD ENOUGH. Not to mentioon La Rasa and the drug cartels.
The Republic of Texas has changed significantly since I came here, and its NOT for the better.
This is where a strong case for MASSIVE Statewide and possibly nationwide VOTER FRAUD can be made based on results nearly 100% beneficial to the government.
Last night was a disgrace to the notion of 'free and fair elections'. Unless strict Voter I.D. and purple ink on fingers is not enacted, there is absolutely no point in voting in ANY future election. This is the '2016; 0bama's America' that we were warned about. DISGUSTING AND VOMIT-INDUCING STANK.
