Newt had no base outside of GA and SC, home territory. If he had withdrawn after Missouri and Santorum’s sweep - Santorum could have taken down Mitt in Ohio (lost by a percent), and in Michigan (same).
That changes the whole tenure of the race.
Santorum is not the answer to anything, besides his being kicked out of his Senate seat by a bigger margin than Christine O'Donnell lost at her attempt to win one, Santorum has a dark, pro-Romney, pro-Arlen Specter, pro-abortion, anti-Reagan, Romney like past.
Santorum and Romney need to disappear from republican politics.
