The Secretary of Homeland Security is higher, in the line of seccession, so, if Napolitano becames AG, she’d be taking a step down. She should refuse that job. If Holder quits, I hope that Obama would nominate Richard Bryan, for AG. He’s a moderate Democrat who was the Nevada AG, 1979-’83; governor, 1983-’89; and U.S. senator, 1989-2001.

Obama will never appoint a moderate AG.

BTW Sec of Homeland Security was placed at the very bottom of the line of succession. They was talk of putting it higher between AG and Interior I believe but that didn’t happen.

AG is 4th among cabinet positions, below State, Treasury and Defense.

More importantly since no one considers extremely unlikely Presidential succession when accepting a cabinet post AG is more important office by no small margin.

Frankly I’m not so sure Homeland Security should have been created. Thanks George.
