Nightyfour years ago my father tossed his rifle away. He was in the 43 Battery, !st Div and after four years in combat, only 20 at the time. I think the only time we really understood each other was when my mom asked if I was in danger when I went back to Nam. I told her that if a 107 went off next to me I would never know it. He just shook his head yes.
